Blackburn Rovers vs Hull City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two promotion hopefuls as the team in ninth hosts the team in eighth. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Blackburn made it three successive league victories with a 2-0 home victory over Ipswich last time out. Rovers dominated the game and should have had more to show it for than a Danny Graham penalty and a Joe Nuttall goal.

Hull saw their six game winning run come to an end with a 2-2 draw at Aston Villa though it is still ten undefeated in the league. They had to settle for a point despite going two goals up through Jarrod Bowen and Evandro.

The reverse fixture came in mid-August at the KC Stadium and it was the Lancashire outfit who won that one 1-0. Bradley Dack got the goal to give Rovers three points in a game they controlled.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It is hard to argue with the prices on offer here which suggests little to choose between the two sides other than home advantage. This is shown in the fact that these sides have the same points and of the three options the draw seems most likely but I think better value can be found elsewhere.

Blackburn have scored at least two goals in four of their last five at Ewood Park while Hull have scored at least two goals in each of their last six on the road so goals looks the order of the day. Over 2.5 makes sense while building on that over 3.5 also looks worth a small interest.

Blackburn Rovers Preview

Rovers are a streaky side at the moment with three wins, coming on the back of three defeats that before it saw two draws. They sit in ninth place six points and three places from Derby in sixth.

At Ewood Park, the Lancashire outfit have won their last two and lost just twice in the league this season. Danny Graham has five in his last five at his own place while Bradley Dack has four in seven.

The last four Blackburn matches have all been goalless going into the break though none have finished without a score. 15 of their 28 this season have been level going into the break and this rises to 11 of 14 when looking at home games.

Blackburn Rovers Team News

Paul Downing (illness), Charlie Mulgrew (hamstring), Derrick Wiliams (calf) and Harrison Reed (unknown) are all doubts. Dominic Samuel and Ben Gladwin (both knee) have both been ruled out for the season.

Hull City Preview

The Tigers have taken a remarkable 23 points from the last 30 on offer a run that has moved them from relegation candidates to play-off hopefuls. They sit in eighth and are two places and six points off Derby in sixth.

Away from the KC Stadium, the Humberside outfit are unbeaten in seven winning four of these and drawing three. They have scored at least two goals in each of their last six on the road.

In each of their last five Championship fixtures Hull have scored at least one goal in the first-half. No other team has gone in ahead at the interval more times than the 12 City have done so.

Hull City Team News

Jordy de Wijs (calf) is a doubt while Angus MacDonald (also calf) and James Weir (meniscus) are long-term absentees. Jackson Irvine is on international duty.
