Birmingham City vs Reading Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) fixture features two sides who won at the weekend and are looking to build on it. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Birmingham are now unbeaten in nine and have won back-to-back games following a 1-0 road success at Stoke. Che Adams got the only goal of the match to give them three points that their performance deserved.

Reading put behind them a three-game winless run with a 3-1 home victory over Millwall at the weekend. Yakou Meite grabbed a brace and Sam Baldock converted a penalty to give them three points that were somewhat fortunate.

The two meetings between these sides last season were won 2-0 by the side playing on the road. They have also already met in the League Cup this season which came at the Madejski and saw the Royals win 2-0.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Birmingham are the most likely winners of the game and while I could not put anyone off backing them a tendency to draw a few too means I need to see a little more from them before I can trust them at the odds.

Each of the last five Reading have played on the road have seen both teams score and this looks a sensible play as does over 2.5 goals which has happened in four of the last five the visitors have played away from their own ground.

Birmingham City Preview

The Blues have won their last two and three of their last five and are starting to turn draws into victories and have climbed into 14th. They now play three of their next four in front of their own fans before a local derby with fierce rivals Aston Villa.

At St Andrew’s, they are unbeaten this season though five of these have ended up finishing all-square. Lukas Jutkiewicz has now found the back of the net five times from his last two home appearances.

Birmingham have been level going into the break in eight of their 13 played so far and been behind just twice. They have an even fifty per cent split of seven goals in the first-half and seven in the second.

Birmingham City Team News

David Davis (ankle) and Isaac Vassell (thigh) are long-term absentees though the latter is closing in on a return.

Reading Preview

The Royals have been a mixed bag of late with two victories, two defeats and a draw in their last five and they are in 19th place. They are now set to embark on a run of fixtures that sees four of their next six on the road.

Away from the Madejski Stadium, they have won just once this season though they have lost just twice, drawing three times. Each of the last five the Berkshire outfit have played on the road have seen both teams score.

Reading would be as high as sixth in the table if the league was settled on scores at half-time having been behind on just two occasions. 16 of the 21 they have conceded have come in the second-half.

Reading Team News

Saeid Ezatolahi (knock), Jon Dodhi Bodhvarsson, Sam Baldock (both calf), Paul McShane (hamstring), Adrian Popa (ankle), Dave Edwards (medial collateral ligament),  David Meyler (knee) and Jordan Obita (cruciate) are all doubts.
