Birmingham City vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the bottom six of the Championship table.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Birmingham looked on course for their first victory of the season after going two up at Nottingham Forest but had to settle for a point after a goal each from Che Adams and Lukas Jutkiewicz. They have had a week off as they were eliminated in the previous round of the League Cup by Reading 2-0. QPR picked up their first league victory of the season last weekend as a Tomer Hemed goal gave them a 1-0 defeat of Wigan. In the League Cup, they had a home tie with Bristol Rovers that they won 3-1 to book their place in the next round. The two meetings between these sides last season were won by the Rs who won 3-1 at Loftus Road and 2-1 at St Andrew’s. Both teams to score has happened in their last four head-to-head games with three going over 2.5 goals.

Betting Tips and Predictions

I am going to take chance on the home side to pick up their first three points of the season after good performances against Swansea and Nottingham Forest. The visitors won last weekend but the expected goals data suggests they were a little lucky to do so and their horrible road record (six defeats in a row) means the Midlands outfit look the call. Gary Gardner was a handful against Nottingham Forest getting himself into some good scoring opportunities and he looks good each-way value here in the goalscorer markets.

Birmingham City Preview

The Blues are without a win in five league matches with three of these fixtures finishing all-square. They sit 20th in the table, though the expected goals data table thinks they should be up in ninth. At St Andrew’s, they have drawn both fixtures this season and have not lost any of their previous seven. Their last home match ended goallessly but the four before that saw both teams net. Only two sides (including their opponents here) have scored a lower amount in the league than the four Birmingham have netted. None of their players have netted more than once this season.

Birmingham City Team News

David Davis (broken ankle) and Isaac Vassell (cruciate) are long-term absentees.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

The Rs picked up their first league win and first three points of the season with that victory over Wigan. They sit in 22nd place now though the expected goals data believes they should be at the bottom. Away from Loftus Road, they have lost both league games this season and lost each of their last six. The London outfit have shipped a combined 16 goals from their previous five on the road. Tomar Hemed netted on his debut last weekend and he could be key to their survival hopes this season. QPR have found themselves behind just once going into the interval with three of them being level.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Sean Goss (back) and Darnell Furlong (knee) are both long-term absentees.
