Birmingham City vs Millwall Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the bottom-half of the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Birmingham will be looking to bounce back after going down 2-0 to Aston Villa in a local derby in their last game. The Blues misery was also further compounded when they had Cheikh N’Doye dismissed in injury-time. Millwall battled out a home point with high-flying Cardiff in their last match which finished 1-1. Lee Gregory got the goal to give the Lions a point that was the minimum that their performance deserved. The reverse fixture came on the 21st October and it ended 2-0 to the London outfit thanks to a Ryan Tunnicliffe strike and an own-goal. It put to an end a sequence that had seen the away side win the three previous encounters.

Betting Tips and Prediction

Bookmakers are having trouble splitting the pair and I could not argue with that assessment. The Blues have beaten Leeds and Sunderland at home recently while the Lions have won at Leeds and Reading so to come down on one side or another in the match market looks tough. Birmingham have scored seven in their last four while Millwall have scored seven in their last three so they both look capable of netting here so try YES in the both teams to score market which looks a touch too big. Over 2.5 goals also look too big as it would have paid in three of the last five for the hosts and three of the last four for the visitors

Birmingham City Preview

Despite defeat last time out the Blues are in decent Championship form with two victories in their last three and just one defeat in four. They sit in 20th place just two points and two places above the bottom three and they have four in a row against bottom-half sides. At St Andrew’s, they have won two of their last three though just six over the course of the season. The 11 home goals they have scored is a league low though the 17 they have conceded shows a good home defence. Birmingham are a side normally involved in under games with 23 of 31 going under 2.5 goals though three of their last five have gone over. The Midlands outfit tend to start games well and would be as high as 15th if the league was settled on results at half-time.

Birmingham City Team News

Isaac Vassell (cruciate) and Jonathan Grounds (ligaments) are long-term absentees while Cheik N’Doye will miss the game through suspension.

Millwall Preview

It is now five undefeated for the Lions in the Championship with three of these ending in a draw. The London outfit are in 14th place and each of their next five comes against a team in the bottom-half. Away from the Den, they have won just twice this season but both of those victories have come in their last two. Seven of the 12 road goals they have scored have come in their last three ties. Four of the last six and five of the last eight Millwall have played in the league have seen both teams find the back of the net. Lee Gregory has two in his last two in the league and three in the last four.

Millwall Team News

Byron Webster (knee) and Aiden O’Brien (ankle) are long-term absentees.
