Birmingham City vs Hull City Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture is an important one at the bottom of the Championship table.  Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.
Birmingham lost their seventh straight last weekend going down 3-2 on the road to Cardiff City.  The Blues found themselves three down at half-time though can take heart from a much improved second 45 minutes that saw goals for Craig Gardner (penalty) and Maxime Colin.
Hull made it back-to-back victories on Tuesday night as they defeated Ipswich 3-0 away at Portman Road.  The goals were shared around the team with one each for Markus Henriksen, Harry Wilson and Jarrod Bowen.
The reverse fixture came in late September and the Tigers won comprehensively that day coming out on top 6-1.  Frazier Campbell grabbed one as did David Meyler (penalty), Jarrod Bowen, Kamil Grosicki, Markus Henriksen and Seb Larsson.

Betting Tips and Predictions

How you find the value in this game depends on what you hold closer form or long-term information.  If it is form then Hull are the bet because they have won three of their last five while Birmingham have lost seven straight.  Alternatively, could the Blues be the value here given over the whole season only nine points separate the teams and they are outsiders despite enjoying home advantage.

One bet I do like is both teams to score as they both will come out looking for all three points.  The hosts showed an attacking spirit in the second-half against Cardiff while the visitors have scored seven times in their last two.

Harry Wilson is a player in good form with two in his last two at all ground and two of his last three on the road and he is the recommendation here as a decent each-way play in the first goalscorer market.

YES both teams to score

Harry Wilson, first goalscorer, each-way

Birmingham City Preview

It is seven straight defeats for the Blues two of which have come under new boss Gary Monk who has yet to turn around their form.  They now have four fixtures in a row against teams outside the top ten and they need to take advantage of this.

At St Andrew’s, they have lost their last three matches and four of their last five.  In front of their own fans they have netted six times in their last 12 and three of these came in the same game against Sunderland.

Ten of the last 13 league goals that Birmingham have conceded have come in the opening 45 minutes.  A major issue has been that none of their players have scored regularly this season with Sam Gallagher top scorer with just six goals.

Birmingham City Team News

David Davis (knee) is close to a return while Isaac Vassell (cruciate) and Jonathan Grounds (medial collateral ligament) are long-term absentees.

Hull City Preview

Two victories in a week and ten points from the last 15 on offer has given the Tigers breathing space at the bottom.  They are nine points above their opponents here and with Villa and Wolves up next, they will not want to take their foot off the gas.

Away from the KC Stadium, they have won two of their last three and netted six goals in the process.  Harry Wilson has found the back of the net in two of his last three appearances on the road.

In four of the last five Hull league games and five of their last seven have both teams found the back of the net.  Abel Hernandez has three in his last three while Harry Wilson has two in his last two.

Hull City Team News

Stephen Kingsley (groin) and Moses Odubajo (knee) are doubts. James Weir (also knee) is a long-term absentee.
