Birmingham City vs Huddersfield Town Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

Harry Redknapp will try to work his magic on Saturday afternoon (15:00) as his Birmingham side play host to Huddersfield in a crucial Championship encounter. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. It has been honours even in recent meetings between the pair with three of the last five ending all-square and both sides picking up one win each. The reverse fixture back in November ended 1-1 with a goal each from Elias Kachunga and Lukas Jutkiewicz ensuring that the points were shared that day. Despite the presence of a different manager in the dugout it was the same result for Birmingham last time out as they went down 1-0 to Aston Villa in the Midlands derby. Huddersfield picked up the three points that secured them a place in the end of season play-offs last time out as they won 1-0 at Wolves thanks to a goal from Isaiah Brown.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Considering Birmingham have found the net just five times in their last nine games it might be worth a little on the visitors to keep a clean sheet as they have the seventh best ranked defence in the division. The fact that the home team need to win the game also suggests to me that the second-half be the highest scoring looks a good bet in this game also. The Blues must come out and look for goals the longer the game opens up and this hands an advantage to a Huddersfield side who are strong at the counter-attack.

Huddersfield to keep a clean sheet

Second-half to be the highest scoring

Birmingham Preview

It is now ten without victory for Birmingham and just four points from these games a miserable run of form that has put them deep in the relegation battle. They sit just one point and two places above Blackburn with two fixtures remaining. At home, it is six without victory taking just one point from these games. They have struggled at home all season with only Rotherham, Wigan and Barnsley having recorded a lower number of victories in front of their own fans. Lack of goals has been a real problem for the second city team as they have registered just 42 this season with only Wigan and Rotherham going lower. They have scored just five goals in their last nine matches. In front of their own fans they have failed to find the back of the net in three of their last four.

Huddersfield Preview

It has been a mixed bag of result lately for Huddersfield with two wins, one draw and two defeats from their last five. They sit in third place and have secured their place in the end of season play-offs. On the road, Town have taken four points from their last two games with a victory over Wolves last time out and before that a point at Derby. Over the course of the season they have the fourth best away record in the division. Under 2.5 goals has occurred in six of their last ten and five of their last six when looking at away fixtures. YES in the both teams to score market would have paid in three of their last four and five of the last nine on the road in all competitions. Collin Quaner has found the back of the net two times in his last four appearances.
