Birmingham City vs Bristol City Match Prediction

Birmingham City v Bristol City, Match Prediction and Betting Tips

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) game features two sides who had contrasting opening weekends in the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. It was disappointment for Birmingham on the opening weekend as they went down 1-0 away to Ipswich. They created chances but found the Town keeper in good form that day and came home pointless. Bristol City had an excellent opening day of the season as they put aside worries over where the goals would come from without Tammy Abraham by netting three in the first 30 minutes with a brace for Bobby Reid and one for Famara Diedhiou. The head-to-head record favours Birmingham who won both games last season by the same 1-0 scoreline. Che Adams netted in both games last season and if handed the start here will hope to continue that run.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The match prices look about correct Birmingham are the favourites for the game but these two sides look to have around about equal abilities so I would look elsewhere for the bets. Seven of the eight Bristol City have scored this season have come in the first-half and they have netted five of these in the first 25 minutes which indicates they come out of the blocks firing. Bookmakers think the Robins will not score before 57:00 minutes into the game which looks worth taking on as does the odds against that they net in the first 45 minutes.

Birmingham City Preview

At home, it was a struggle for Birmingham last season with just two victories from their previous 12 league games. These matches tended to be low scoring with just one of their five previous at their own ground going over 2.5 goals. Their loss last weekend was a little against the run of play as they registered more shots on target. Cheikh Ndoye registered a huge five shots on that day but just one of them was on target. In the League Cup in midweek, they got more rewards for their efforts as they hammered Crawley 5-1. Che Adams was the star of the show as he grabbed a hat-trick while David Davis and Robert Tesche grabbed one each.

Birmingham City Team News

Lukas Jutkiewicz is out with a calf injury while Cheick Keita is a doubt with a thigh problem.

Bristol City Preview

On the road last season, it was a struggle for Bristol City who won just four of their league games. They shipped a lot of goals last season on their travels with 40 conceded though the 27 they scored was only below promoted Brighton. Victory last weekend was not against the run of play as they had more of the ball and created many more chances. Although Reid and Diedhiou took the bulk of the headlines Josh Brownhill also played well and registered a couple of shots on target so is one to watch in the scorer markets. They also played in the League Cup in midweek and hit five as they defeated League One side Plymouth 5-0. The goals were shared around the team as Jens Hegeler, Nathan Baker, Korey Smith, Freddie Hinds and Jamie Paterson grabbed one each.
