Bayern Munich vs Darmstadt Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Darmstadt will be aiming to continue their push for survival in the Bundesliga when they travel to the Allianz Arena to take on the reigning champions Bayern Munich on Saturday afternoon. Bayern Munich managed an impressive 0-6 victory on the road at Wolfsburg last weekend thanks to a brace from Robert Lewandowski and four other goals from David Alaba, Arjen Robben, Thomas Muller and Joshua Kimmich. Meanwhile, Darmstadt won 3-0 at home over Freiburg, with Felix Platte, Jerome Gondorf and Sven Schipplock all getting on the scoresheet for Torsten Frings’ side. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Bayern Munich have nothing left to play for until the end of the season, while a defeat for Darmstadt will send them into the 2.Bundesliga. I don’t think that Darmstadt can pick up a victory here, but I’m backing them to show some fighting spirit and to cover the Asian Handicap here

Bayern Munich Preview

Bayern Munich were on a five-game winless streak across all competitions prior to their ridiculous 0-6 away victory at Wolfsburg last time out. During this poor run of form, the Bavarian giants were knocked out from both Champions League and DFB Pokal Cup competitions following defeats at the hands of Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund respectively. They have struggled to keep the ball out of their own net during this disappointing run of form, having conceded at least two goals in four of their last six competitive fixtures. However, Bayern Munich are already confirmed as champions in the Bundesliga, as they are ten points clear of the second-placed RB Leipzig with just three games left until the end of the season. The Bavarian side looked very well-organized at both ends of the pitch throughout this Bundesliga campaign, scoring 79 goals in 31 rounds while conceding just 17 in this term. Robert Lewandowski has been outstanding throughout the season, as the Polish striker is currently leading the league’s goalscoring charts with 28 goals under his belt in his 30 league appearances. However, Bayern Munich’s recent home form hasn’t been very good as they are winless in the last three fixtures across all competitions, conceding at least two goals in each of these. The good news is that Bayern Munich have won their both home meetings with Darmstadt across all competitions, conceding just once in this term.

Xabi Alonso and Jerome Boateng are both doubts, but Manuel Neuer is still out through injury.

Darmstadt Preview

Darmstadt had a disappointing Bundesliga campaign overall, but their recent form has been excellent. They managed back-to-back victories over Schalke 04, Hamburger SV and Freiburg in their most recent three league fixtures to postpone their relegation into the 2.Bundesliga. Darmstadt still sit on the bottom of the Bundesliga table, but they are now nine points behind safety with three games to go. This means they are obliged to win the remaining three games and hope that the teams above them will lose some games. Darmstadt looked poor at both ends of the field throughout this Bundesliga campaign, but scoring goals has been the main reason for their struggle. They have only scored 26 goals in 31 rounds, which is the worst attacking record in the division. Mario Vrancic and Antonio-Mirko Colak are Darmstadt’s joint topscorers with four goals each, while Jerome Gondorf has helped the team with three goals and four assists in his 26 league appearances. On the road, Darmstadt were on a twelve-game losing streak across all competitions prior to their 1-2 away win at Hamburger SV in their most recent league trip. Head-to-head, Darmstadt have lost all their four meetings with Bayern Munich in all competitions, scoring just once in the process.
