Bayern Munich vs Anderlecht Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Bayern Munich will be aiming to kick off their Champions League group stage campaign in a positive manner when they welcome Anderlecht at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night. Bayern Munich had a perfect start to their domestic season, and they should head into this tie high on confidence despite they have a difficult trip to Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga at the weekend. On the flip side, Anderlecht have looked terrible in this early part of their domestic league, but they have a great opportunity to get back to winning ways in the Jupiler League this weekend as they take on Lokeren. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Bayern Munich should be able to secure a comfortable victory in this one as they hold an impeccable home record in the Champions League over the past years. They have won 17 of their last 18 home fixtures across all competitions, including nine games in the group stage in the previous three Champions League editions.

Bayern Munich Preview

Bayern Munich already managed to win a piece of silverware this season as they beat Borussia Dortmund on penalties in the German Super Cup. They followed this up with one DFB Pokal victory along with two Bundesliga wins, and they should be able to pick up another positive result in their trip to Hoffenheim at the weekend. Regarding their Champions League history, the Bavarian giants had reached at least the Semi-finals for five straight seasons before 4-2 on aggregate at the hands of Real Madrid in the quarter-finals last term. Actually, Bayern Munich were on a 17-game winning streak on home soil in the Champions League prior to their 2-1 loss against Real Madrid in the first leg of their quarter-finals tie last season. The Bavarian giants have reached the knockout stage of the Champions League every year since 2007/08 and qualified for the current group stage phase after winning their fifth straight Bundesliga title in 2016/17. Last season, Bayern Munich finished as runner-ups in their group behind Atletico Madrid, which was the first time they had failed to win their group since 2009/10. The good news is that Bayern Munich have won all nine group home fixtures in the previous three Champions League editions.

Bayern Munich Team News

Jerome Boateng and David Alaba are both doubts, but Juan Bernat is definitely missing through injury.

Anderlecht Preview

Anderlecht, on the other hand, won the Jupiler League title last term, but they kicked off the new domestic season in a disappointing manner. They have only won once in five Jupiler games this season, but they have a good opportunity to get back to winning ways this weekend when they host Lokeren. Anderlecht qualified automatically for the Champions League group stage and are contesting this phase of the competition for the 12th time in total. Last season, the Belgians were knocked out from the Champions League third qualifying round following 4-2 aggregate loss at the hands of Rostov. However, they did a good job by reaching the Europa League quarter-finals, eventually losing 2-3 on aggregate at the hands of the eventual winners Manchester United. The bad news is that Anderlecht are winless in their last eleven Champions League away fixtures, although their most recent trips have ended in draws. In addition, Anderlecht hold a poor record on the road in Germany, having won just four of their 17 trips. The most interesting fact is that Anderlecht managed to beat Bayern Munich 1-2 in the most recent meeting between these two back in 2008 in the Europa League round of 16.

Anderlecht Team News

Andy Najar is the only injury absentee for Anderlecht ahead of this trip.
