BATE Borisov vs Arsenal Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Arsenal will look to extend their lead at the top of the UEFA Europa League group H table when they welcome BATE Borisov at the Borisov Arena on Thursday afternoon. BATE Borisov fought back from one-goal down to secure a 1-1 away draw at Crvena zvezda a fortnight ago thanks to a late equaliser from Nikolai Signevich. Meanwhile, Arsenal have also fought back from one goal down to register a 3-1 home win over FC Cologne thanks to three second-half goals from Sead Kolasinac, Alexis Sanchez and Hector Bellerin. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Arsenal are hot favourites to win, but BATE Borisov are a team with plenty of experience in the European competitions. The Belarusians are undefeated in their last seven European home fixtures, winning four in the process. Furthermore, their recent home form has seen them lose just once in their last eight home games across all competitions, while Arsenal have failed to score a single goal in their most recent three away games in the Premier League. I’m backing BATE to cover the Asian Handicap +1.5 and I’m also fancying a low-scoring affair.

BATE Borisov Preview

BATE Borisov struggled for consistency in the first part of their 2017/18 competitive season, but their recent form has been much better. They are currently on a six-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, winning five in the process. BATE have won their eleventh Vysshaya Liga title last year and booked their place in the Champions League qualifiers. They were eliminated from the Champions League due to the away goal rule following their 2-2 aggregate draw against Slavia Prague, but managed to beat Oleksandriya 3-2 on aggregate in the Europa League play-offs to book their place in the group stage. However, they started their Europa League group stage campaign with only a 1-1 draw on the road at Crvena Zvezda on matchday one a fortnight ago, in a game in which they delivered just three shots on target. Apart from their meeting with Crvena zvezda, BATE managed to score at least two goals in their most recent five games. At home, the Belarusian are undefeated in seven European fixtures at the moment, winning three and drawing four in this term. In addition, BATE have scored at least two goals in five of their last eight home games in the Europa League. Mikhail Gordejchuk is BATE’s most prolific player in front of goal at the moment as he is the Vysshaya Liga’ top scorer at the moment with 14 goals under his belt.

BATE Borisov Team News

There are no fresh injury concerns for BATE ahead of this game, but Jurica Buljat is back in training.

Arsenal Preview

On the other hand, Arsenal have suffered back-to-back defeats at the hands of Stoke City and Liverpool towards the end of August, but Arsene Wenger somehow managed to steady the ship recently. The Gunners are currently on a five-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, including a 3-1 home win over FC Cologne in their Europa League group opener a fortnight ago. Arsenal followed this up with a nil-nil home draw on the road at Chelsea and a 2-0 win over West Brom in the Premier League along with a narrow 1-0 home win over Doncaster in the Carabao Cup. The Gunners looked very well-organized at the back over the past three weeks, keeping four clean sheets in their last five competitive fixtures. The bad news is that Arsenal are winless in their three Premier League away games so far this season, scoring none in the process. Arsenal’s 3-1 home win over Koln a fortnight ago was their Europa League group stage debut, although they have reached the UEFA Cup final in 2000 when they lost on penalties at the hands of Galatasaray. The summer signing Alexandre Lacazette has been Arsenal’s most dangerous player in front of goal so far this season, helping the team with four goals in six appearances in the Premier League.

Arsenal Team News

Calum Chambers, Danny Welbeck, Francis Coquelin, Krystian Bielik and Santiago Cazorla are all out through injury, but Gedion Zelalem is back in training following his cruciate ligament injury.
