Barnsley vs Queens Park Rangers Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Tuesday evening (19:45) game features two sides in opposite halves of the Championship. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats. Barnsley will be disappointed to have come out of their trip with Wolves with nothing to show having looked on course for a point when they levelled in the 91st minute through Adam Jackson. The result was a little harsh on the Yorkshire outfit who saw more of the ball and expected goals rate was not much lower than their opponents. QPR were held to a goalless draw last time out by Burton in a game that the visitors barely threatened. The London outfit could not find a way past Albion who have been come tough to breakdown on the road. It finished 3-2 when these sides met at Oakwell last season in a game that saw Marley Watkins, Conor Hourihane and Josh Scowen net for the Tykes and and Tjaronn Cherry and Seb Polter convert penalties for the Rs. It continued a trend of goals in their meetings with eight of the last 11going over 2.5.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Bookmakers are struggling to split the pair with QPR marginal favourites. I cannot be having that at Oakwell. The Tykes have beaten Nottingham Forest and Sunderland there this season with the visitors losing three of four on the road. The draw is a real risk so take the home side with the safety of the draw no bet market. Adam Jackson has two in his last four if you include the League Cup and with neither side having a real goalscorer he looks worth a play to be the first goalscorer.

Barnsley Preview

The Tykes sit in 21st place going into this round of fixtures (though they do have a game in hand of most) and it is clear that the sales of players has impacted them. They have lost their last two league games and won just two all season. At home, it has been a mixed bag with two victories and two defeats in their four league games. Each of their last six at Oakwell has produced a total of exactly three goals while ten of the last 11 have seen two or three goals. The Yorkshire outfit need a regular goalscorer with no player having netted more than two in the league this season. Six of the nine they have netted have come at their own ground.

Barnsley Team News

Angus MacDonald will miss the game through suspension.

Queens Park Rangers Preview

Despite no win in three a strong start to the season means QPR still sit in 11th place with 12 points from their first nine games. This represents the first of their three away fixtures in their next four. On the road, they have lost each of their last three and taken just one point from four though they have faced four sides expected to go well this season. Eight of the 12 they have shipped this season have come away from Loftus Road. Jamie Mackie and Matt Smith both have three league goals for the season with the former netting two of these in away fixtures. Four of their last six have seen a goal scored in the opening 15 minutes.

Queens Park Rangers Team News

Jordan Cousins (hamstring), Grant Hall (knee), James Perch (dislocated kneecap) and Nedum Onuoha (hamstring) remain sidelined.
