Barcelona vs Valencia Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League in remarkable circumstances after a 3-0 loss against Roma on Tuesday night. Despite a 4-1 lead from the first leg, Barcelona were pushed to a defeat which was largely instigated by the early goal from Edin Dzeko. Second-half goals from Daniel De Rossi and Kostas Manolas put Roma into the semi-finals. In the league, Barcelona had picked up a 3-1 win over Leganes during the weekend. Valencia made it five consecutive wins after a 1-0 victory over Espanyol. Rodrigo Moreno scored the only goal after just seven minutes, but Marcelino’s men were certainly deserving of three points.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Barcelona will undoubtedly be destroyed from the loss against Roma, as the semi-finals appeared to be in the bag for the Catalan outfit. Valencia have had victories at the Camp Nou in recent times, as the team has won on this ground into out of the last six visits. Yet, Barcelona’s domestic form has been excellent and the team will be looking to sweep the league title as soon as possible. Barcelona are yet to suffer a league defeat at the Camp Nou this season but they have been involved in two stalemates. Valencia’s unbeaten run now stands at nine matches and I would back a draw.

Players like Rodrigo Moreno and Simone Zaza have been in good form for Valencia. However, the team’s success over the last couple of weeks has been built on a strong defence. In fact, Valencia have a better defensive record than Barcelona in the last six matches. Despite having failed to score in the recent visit to the Camp Nou, I would back both teams to score.

Barcelona Preview

Even though the league run has been incredibly good for Barcelona, the manner of the exit from the Champions League has the potential to disrupt the campaign. The Catalan outfit should be comfortably home and dry with regards to the La Liga title, as they have a nine-point advantage over Atletico Madrid with seven matches left. However, the next five matches are extremely challenging for the club, as Barcelona are up against Valencia, Celta de Vigo, Sevilla, and Real Madrid in four of these games.

Barcelona Team News

Ivan Rakitic (broken finger), Sergi Samper (ankle), Lucas Digne (thigh), and Jose Manuel Arnaiz (hernia) are the players missing for Ernesto Valverde.

Valencia Preview

Valencia have not given up hope of finishing ahead of Real Madrid, as an incredible run of form sees the club with a slender one-point advantage over the Los Blancos going into the last seven matches. If Zinedine Zidane’s team reach the latter rounds of the Champions League, it would spell even better news for Valencia, who have no distractions in the last month of action. Valencia’s form has been on and off over the last few months, but they have been able to steady the ship with a strong run of defence form over the last month. Valencia have kept four clean sheets in five games.

Valencia Team News

Francis Coquelin (Achilles tendon) is the only player on the sidelines for Valencia.
