Barcelona vs Las Palmas Match Prediction

By Gary Gillles

Barcelona continued with their 100% start to the season by beating Girona 3-0 during the weekend. The opposition surprisingly created several good opportunities, but Barcelona were able to take the lead through a fortuitous own goal from Aday. A heavy deflection led to the second goal of the evening from Iraizoz, while a second-half goal from Luis Suarez provided a comprehensive win for Barcelona. The Catalan outfit picked up a narrow 1-0 win over Sporting CP in the Champions League. Las Palmas lost 2-0 against Leganes at home. This was the second consecutive home defeat for the team as they conceded through Claudio Beauvue and Eraso. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Barcelona were far from convincing in the midweek Champions League game just as they were against Girona during the weekend. Yet, they keep creating chances and it is only a matter of time before the team starts thrashing opponents. After having scored nine goals in the last two matches against Las Palmas, the Catalan club may be in a great position to extend this run. I would back Barcelona to score over 3.5 goals. Since his return from injury, Luis Suarez has been in decent form and came up with the third goal against Girona. The Uruguayan’s presence resulted in the winner against Sporting CP in the Champions League game. Suarez has scored a remarkable six goals in four games against Las Palmas. I would back Luis Suarez to score the first goal in this game.

Barcelona Preview

The last two matches have seen Barcelona go through some difficulties, but it is unlikely to hamper the club’s 100% record – especially when it comes to a home match. So far, the team has been quite impressive and have been able to get victories in all of the league matches and European games. Since the club only had to make a short trip to Portugal for the Champions League games, this is unlikely to have an impact on the weekend’s game. After having scored for fun in the last few weeks, Barcelona may be on course to registering a lower tally in this game. Lionel Messi leads the scoring charts at Barcelona with nine La Liga goals.

Barcelona Team News

Ousmane Dembele (hamstring) and Rafinha (meniscus) are the only two players unavailable for manager Ernesto Valverde.

Las Palmas Preview

The positivity out of Las Palmas has been taken away after four defeats in the last six league games. The club were always expected to struggle in the 2017-18 La Liga campaign after having defied expectations in the previous season. The loss of several key players coupled with the second season syndrome have been attributed as the reasons behind the slow start, but Las Palmas have been going through their worst patch of the season. Last season, the club survived in the La Liga largely on the account of an impressive home form, but they have lost back-to-back home games. Loic Remy and Jonathan Calleri are the top scorers with two goals each.

Las Palmas Team News

Victor Vitolo (thigh), Sergi Samper (calf), Dani Castellano (thigh), Alen Halilovic (ankle), and Pedro Bigas (knee) are the players unavailable for Las Palmas.
