Barcelona vs Juventus Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Barcelona welcome Juventus at the Camp Nou on Tuesday night, September 12, with both teams looking for a positive start to their Champions League group D. Barcelona, have enjoyed a 100% perfect start to their new La Liga campaign despite the fact there are doubts about them this season haven’t occurred before. Similar to Barcelona, Juventus have also started their Serie A season brightly, but the interesting fact is that they have looked more prolific going forward than in the previous years. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Both sides have won their opening two league games and both have accessible home fixtures this weekend. Barcelona’s home record in the Champions League can’t be written off, so I think they should be able to grab all three points in this one despite the fact that Juventus are a bit stable than the Blaugrana at the moment.

Barcelona Preview

Barcelona have won the Champions League trophy three times in the last eight years, but a couple of factors have called their superiority into question this year. The Blaugrana have a new coach in the shape of Ernesto Valverde, and the former Athletic Bilbao manager has a lot to do to prove that Barcelona are still a massive side on the European stage. Valverde will have to cope with the terrible loss of Neymar, while also figuring out how to use Barcelona’s current players to their full potential. The recent rumors are saying that Valverde is unhappy regarding the new signing Ousmane Dembele in training, as the former Dortmund player has trained a lot on his own this summer and he struggled to integrate into Barca’s system. Dembele could make his debut this weekend as Barcelona will take on city rivals Espanyol, looking for their third consecutive win in this early part of the new La Liga season. Barcelona hold a rich history in the Champions League as this is their 22nd group stage campaign and 14th in succession. The last time when the Blaugrana failed to reach the round of 16 was in the 2000/01 season. They did well to beat Juventus 3-1 on aggregate in the 2015 Champions League final, but lost 3-0 on aggregate at the hands of the Italian giants in the quarter-finals last season. The good news is that Valverde’s men are undefeated in 21 home games in the Champions League, a run that stretches back to September 2013.

Barcelona Team News

Arda Turan is still out through injury, while Ivan Rakitic, Rafinha and Sergi Samper are all doubts.

Juventus Preview

Juventus have also seen a lot of changes to their squad this summer, but overall they have a better team than last season. Their most notable departure of the summer has been their powerful centre-back Leonardo Bonucci, but they did well to bring in Federico Bernardeschi, Blaise Matuidi, Medhi Benatia, Douglas Costa and Mattia De Sciglio. Juventus have reached the Champions League final in two of the last three editions, having lost at the hands of Barcelona and Real Madrid on both occasions. Juve kicked off their Serie A campaign with back-to-back wins over Cagliari and Genoa and they have a great chance to make it three out of three as they welcome ChievoVerona at the Venue Allianz Stadium on Saturday. Regarding their Champions League history, this is Juve’s 18th Champions League group stage campaign and their sixth in a row. Prior to their 1-4 disappointing defeat at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League final last season, the Old Lady were on a twelve-game unbeaten run, conceding just three goals in the process. Away from home, Juventus are unbeaten in seven Champions League fixtures, scoring 12 goals and conceding just once.

Juventus Team News

Giorgio Chiellini is missing through a calf injury, while Andrea Barzagli and Marko Pjaca are both doubts.
