Augsburg vs Ingolstadt Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Ingolstadt will be looking to build on their recent victory in the Bundesliga when they travel to the WWK Arena to take on Augsburg on Wednesday night. Augsburg were thrashed 6-0 on the road at Bayern Munich at the weekend to extend their unbeaten streak in the Bundesliga to four games. On the contrary, Ingolstadt won 2-1 at home over Mainz 05, with Romain Bregerie and Florent Hadergjonaj scoring a goal in each half. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Although they were humiliated 6-0 by Bayern Munich last time out, Augsburg have been a tough nut to crack on home soil over the past few months. Furthermore, they have won two of their last three home meetings with Ingolstadt across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in each of these. Meanwhile, Ingolstadt have lost four of their last five away league games and have failed to score a single goal in three of these. I’m backing Augsburg to get back to winning ways in this one, but I’m also expecting a low-scoring affair as both sides have struggled in front of goal so far this season.

Augsburg Preview

Augsburg have only won once in their last seven games in the Bundesliga and are currently on a four-game winless streak in the league. They traveled to Allianz Arena to take on Bayern Munich at the weekend, hoping to cause an upset, but they were humiliated 6-0, despite they had a couple of goalscoring opportunities. This puts Augsburg in real danger, as they are now the first relegation-placed tied on 29 points with the 15th-placed Mainz 05. Augsburg have struggled to find the back of the net throughout this Bundesliga campaign, having scored just 24 goals in 26 league games. Konstantinos Stafylidis is leading the club’s goalscoring charts with just four goals under his belt, while Halil Altintop and Raul Bobadilla have bagged six goals and two assists between them. On home soil, Augsburg have only lost two of their last eight home league games, but four of these have ended in draws. The good news is that Augsburg have won two of their last three home meetings with Ingolstadt across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in each of these. Furthermore, Augsburg picked up a comfortable 0-2 win at Ingolstadt in the reverse fixture thanks to two late goals from Raul Bobadilla and Halil Altintop.

Ingolstadt Preview

Meanwhile, Ingolstadt have finally returned to winning ways in the Bundesliga at the weekend thanks to a hard-fought 2-1 home victory over Mainz 05. Prior to this result, Ingolstadt were on a four-game winless streak in the Bundesliga, having conceded at least two goals in three of these. Ingolstadt also find themselves in a precarious situation at the moment, as they are currently second from the bottom in the league table, already seven points behind safety. Similar to their Wednesday’s opponents, Ingolstadt have also struggled in front of goal so far this season, scoring just 25 goals in 26 league games. Almog Cohen and Dario Lezcano have been Ingolstadt’s most dangerous player in front of goal so far this season, as the pair bagged eight goals and two assists between them. Their away form has also been a problem as Ingolstadt have only won three of their 13 away league games so far this season, scoring just 11 goals in this term. The good news is that Ingolstadt picked up a narrow 0-1 win over Augsburg in their most recent visit to the WWK Arena. Head-to-head, Ingolstadt were on a three-game unbeaten streak against Augsburg prior to their 0-2 defeat in the reverse fixture.
