Aston Villa vs Ipswich Town Match Prediction

By Richard McTiernan

This Saturday afternoon (15:00) fixture features two sides in the bottom-half of the table as 13th play host to the bottom placed team. Here we have our match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Aston Villa saw their winless run stretched to four as they were held to a 2-2 home draw by Hull. James Chester and Tammy Abraham netted to help them fight back from two down to claim a point the just about deserved,

Ipswich could not build on the win last week as they went down to their fourth league loss in their last five losing 2-0 at Blackburn. A Danny Graham penalty and a Joe Nuttall goal proved the difference to give Rovers a well-deserved three points.

These two sides last met back in mid-August at Portman Road when both had different managers in charge and the game ended 1-1. Jonathan Kodjia netted for Villa while Town who played 61 with ten-men had Trevoh Chalobah to thank for a point.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Aston Villa could not ask for a better game to get back on track and while they are more than likely going to win this the price does not appeal. You could look to enhance it and given Ipswich have blanked in their last five on the road take the home team to win and no in the both teams to score market.

This lack of firepower on the road from the Tractor Boys also opens the home team to keep a clean sheet which also looks worth an interest.

Aston Villa to win and NO in the both teams to score market.

Aston Villa Preview

Villa have taken just eight points from their last eight fixtures which has seen them slide down to 13th. They are now seven points from Derby who sit in sixth and occupy the last play-off slot.

At Villa Park, the Midlands outfit are without a victory in five though four of these have finished all-square. Their last six at their own place in the league have produced a remarkable 33 goals.

Aston Villa have scored 24 of their 51 goals in the first-half and conceded just 19 of their 45 in this period. They would be as high as fourth in the table based on scorelines after the first 45 minutes.

Aston Villa Team News

Henri Lansbury (hamstring) and Mile Jedinak (unknown) are doubts while Axel Tuanzebe (foot), Jack Grealish (shin) and Harry McKirdy (dislocated shoulder) are long-term absentees.  Goalkeeper Orjan Nyland (Achilles) is out for the remainder of the season.

Ipswich Town Preview

Town have taken just three points from their last five and seven from their last 12 and while they are improving it is too slow. They sit bottom of the table and are seven off safety.

Away from Portman Road, the Suffolk outfit have lost five straight and failed to net in any of these. Four of their last five Championship matches on the road have ended in the same 2-0 scoreline defeat.

Ipswich have scored 14 of their 22 league goals before the half-time break and just 21 of their 48 goals conceded have come prior to the interval. They would actually be as high as 20th in a table settled on the scores after 45 minutes.

Ipswich Town Team News

Jon Walters, Tom Adeyemi (both Achilles) and Tayo Edun (eye) are long-term absentees. But hope to play a part in the relegation run in.  Grant Ward (cruciate) though has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
