Arsenal Preview

Having so often collapsed at the homes of their title rivals, Arsenal broke the habit of a lifetime with a disciplined performance away to Chelsea last weekend. Arsene Wenger’s side looked organised and strong out of possession, whilst being cautious at the potential of overcommitting bodies forward on the break. In truth, this was a game they really should’ve won, with Alexandre Lacazette putting a glorious opportunity over the bar after the excellent Aaron Ramsey had hit the post. Danny Welbeck also went close for the Gunners, who despite the disappointment of not taking all three points would certainly have that over the humiliating defeats they have suffered in recent years. There has been a definite response to that infamous defeat at Anfield from the Arsenal players as they look to get their season back on track, currently finding themselves 12th and six points behind the two Manchester sides at the top of the table after five games. Arsenal have won seven in a row at home in the Premier League, a run which stretches back to April, and have lost just once at the Emirates in the Premier League in the previous twelve months.

Arsenal Team News

Francis Coquelin (hamstring), Santi Cazorla (achilles) and Danny Welbeck (groin) are all ruled out here, although Mesut Ozil (knee) could be available after missing out at Chelsea.

West Bromwich Albion Preview

West Brom’s clash with West Ham United last weekend proved to be instantly forgettable, as both sides played out an extremely tedious draw at The Hawthorns last weekend. With just three shots on target in the entirety of the game, neither side really ever looked like taking three points, with Pedro Obiang striking the crossbar from near the centre circle in the game’s most exciting moment. Having also lost 2-1 at home to Manchester City in the League Cup on Wednesday evening, Tony Pulis’ side start this game looking to end a run of four successive games without a win in all competitions. The fact three of those came at home will be all the more concerning for Pulis, with his team winning just one of their last seven at home in the Premier League stretching back to last term. With a win and a defeat from their first two away games of the season so far, this is likely to be a typical Pulis performance from West Brom, with the target being to frustrate their opponents and break when the chance arises.

West Bromwich Albion Team News

Wingers Nacer Chadli (thigh) and Oliver Burke (hamstring) will both be assessed before a call is made on their involvement.
