Arsenal vs Swansea City Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Arsenal face Swansea City at the Emirates Stadium on 28/10/17 following two contrasting spells for both teams. Arsenal left it late to beat Norwich City 2-1 in the League Cup on Tuesday evening, as Swansea fell to a 2-0 loss at home to Manchester United. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Arsenal are clear favourites coming into this clash and deservedly so after impressing against Everton last weekend. I can’t see Swansea having enough to stop them here, as Arsenal look to continue their winning streak.

Arsenal Preview

A much-changed Arsenal side squeezed past Championship side Norwich City thanks to a new hero, in the shape of 18-year-old Edward Nketiah. Norwich found themselves a goal ahead with 15 minutes to play, thanks to Josh Murphy’s clinical finish on the break. However, the introduction of Nketiah turned the game on its head, as the young forward scored with his first touch to make it 1-1, before scoring the winner in stoppage time. It maintained the recent feelgood atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium, following the Gunners’ impressive 5-2 rout of Everton last weekend. It was the first time in which Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Alexandre Lacazette have all started together for Arsenal and their quality shone through, with all three players getting themselves on the scoresheet in the fixture. Arsenal now enter this weekend 5th in the Premier League table, level on points with Chelsea as they look to respond to what has been a difficult start to the season away from home. The win at Everton was their first on the road in five attempts in the league and they travel to Manchester City next weekend, making it all the more imperative they are able to get the job done this weekend.

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal will once again be without Calum Chambers (groin), Shkodran Mustafi (hamstring), Santi Cazorla (achilles) and Danny Welbeck (groin) through injury.

Swansea City Preview

Swansea are in real need of a result at this moment in time, having fell to yet another defeat in midweek, this time coming in the League Cup as Manchester United came away from the Liberty Stadium with a 2-0 win. Jesse Lingard scored a goal in each half as United sealed a comfortable passage into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup. Judging by the team selection of Paul Clement, it seems the cup was never a real priority for Swansea this season, with survival the main objective for the season over cup success. That said, losing games can become infectious, with the Swans now coming into this game with just one win from their last five in all competitions. Surprisingly their away form has actually been more impressive than when playing at the Liberty Stadium, with five of their eight league points to date earned on the road. West Ham were the first team to pick up a home win against Swansea this season when they beat them 1-0 at the London Stadium, also becoming the first team to score against them in doing so, having kept three away clean sheets before then.

Swansea City Team News

Wilfried Bony (hamstring) is unlikely to feature for Swansea while Kyle Bartley (knee) is ruled out.
