Arsenal defeated Newcastle United 1-0 last time out, with Liverpool beating Bournemouth 4-0 away from home. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Liverpool have been scoring goals at will away from home in recent weeks, while Arsenal have been unconvincing during their recent wins. The Gunners have struggled in this fixture of late and I’m expecting Liverpool to get a result here.

Arsenal Preview

The mood at Arsenal remains somewhat sombre amongst the Emirates faithful, after another unconvincing performance from Arsene Wenger’s side saw them edge out as 1-0 winners over Newcastle on Saturday. In a game that severely lacked quality or talking points, Mesut Ozil produced the outstanding highlight as he superbly volleyed the ball into the roof of the net in the 23rd minute. It was something of an edgy display from Arsenal, who were unable to kill off their opponents with a second as they moved back above Tottenham and Burnley in the table to 5th. Wenger has seen his team take just five points from their last three games against Southampton, West Ham and Newcastle, scoring just two goals in the process as they have hit something of a brick wall in attack. Without a win in five against Liverpool in the Premier League, it’s now been three seasons since the Gunners have enjoyed three points over the Merseysiders, whose goal record in this fixture suggests the style of Arsenal suits the way they look to play. Wenger has traditionally maintained an open setup against Jurgen Klopp’s men, who have then killed them on the counter-attack, as is demonstrated by the fact they have scored 14 goals in each of their last 4 matches in this fixture. This fixture is the start of a huge home run for Arsenal, who face Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City in their next five at the Emirates.

Arsenal Team News

Shkodran Mustafi (thigh) and Theo Walcott (groin) are both set to undergo fitness tests, while Santi Cazorla (achilles) and Aaron Ramsey (hamstring) are ruled out.

Liverpool Preview

Liverpool responded brilliantly to the frustration of back-to-back home draws at the weekend, as another scintillating away performance saw them come out 4-0 winners against Bournemouth. Philippe Coutinho’s mazy run led to him slotting past Asmir Begovic on 20 minutes, before Dejan Lovren stooped low to head in the Reds’ second six minutes later. Given the current form of Mohamed Salah it’s more of a surprise when he fails to get his name on the scoresheet and he netted his 20th goal of the campaign just before the break, as Roberto Firmino also struck with a header midway through the second half. With that win, Liverpool became the first team to win four consecutive away games by at least three goals in Premier League history, scoring 16 goals in doing so as they again caught the eye with their attacking play. Winning each of their last three against Arsenal, including a 4-0 victory at Anfield earlier in the season, this is a fixture Liverpool have enjoyed playing in under Klopp. It will also be a poignant evening for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who is set to face Arsenal for the first time since leaving for the Reds in the summer and could retain his place in central midfield after impressing against Bournemouth. Avoiding defeat would guarantee the Reds sit in the top four at Christmas - something they certainly would’ve taken at the start of the season.

Liverpool Team News

Nathaniel Clyne (back), Joel Matip (thigh) and Alberto Moreno (ankle) are all missing. James Milner (knock) and Daniel Sturridge (hamstring) will hope to shake off knocks in order to be involved.
