Arsenal vs Chelsea Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Arsenal lost an away match against West Ham for the first time since 2006 after a 1-0 defeat at the London Stadium on Saturday. Declan Rice came up with the only goal of the game from a set-piece situation in the 48th minute, and he became the latest West Ham teenager to get on the scoresheet in the Premier League. Chelsea returned to winning ways at Stamford Bridge after a hard-fought 2-1 success over Newcastle United. David Luiz found Pedro with a sublime pass to score the opener in the ninth minute, but Ciaran Clark levelled the scores with a powerful header just before the break. Willian, though, had the last say in the match with a trademark goal from a difficult angle.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Chelsea are hoping to pick up the first league win at the Emirates Stadium after more than three years. There is plenty of trouble at Arsenal with the team unable to make an impact in almost every area of the pitch. Chelsea have a decent amount of confidence coming into the game, but their forward line up has not been making an impact. After establishing a six-point advantage over Arsenal, Chelsea have every reason to aim for the draw, which would be my pick in the match.

The two teams have been quite poor going forward over the last few weeks. Even though they have players fighting for the Golden Boot title in the form of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Eden Hazard, this game is expected to tight and nervous. I would pick under 2.5 goals in the game.

Arsenal Preview

Arsenal are starting to go through a troubled phase where things are not working well for the team. It appears that the uncertainty surrounding Mesut Ozil’s future has had an influence in the Arsenal dressing room while the recent results have also not helped the fragile confidence of the players. The wins over struggling outfits like Fulham and Blackpool are not enough to inspire any kind of a confidence. There is a lack of creativity in the team, while they have also been opened up easily by the opposition. Manager Unai Emery is yet to dip his hands into the transfer market.

Arsenal Team News

Danny Welbeck (broken ankle), Rob Holding (cruciate ligament), and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (foot) are unavailable for the Gunners.

Chelsea Preview

Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea are not perfect by any stretch, but the club have been doing well to pick up some important victories. The Blues have been able to build a significant buffer between them and Arsenal in the fifth place. This buffer will be extremely crucial to keeping Chelsea in a confident mood going into a hectic period of fixtures. Chelsea are also expected to strengthen substantially in the January transfer market with departures and arrivals expected. Cesc Fabregas has already left the club to weaken the team in the midfield, but the arrival of players like Leandro Paredes should compensate the Blues.

Chelsea Team News

Danny Drinkwater (knock), Marco van Ginkel (cruciate ligament), and Ruben Loftus-Cheek (back) are the players unavailable for Chelsea.
