Arsenal vs Cardiff City Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup after a 3-1 loss against Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was once again able to mastermind a brilliant tactical performance from United, who scored two goals in the space of two minutes through Alexis Sanchez and Jesse Lingard. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did pull one back just before half-time, but a late goal from Anthony Martial confirmed Arsenal’s exit. Cardiff City take to field after a 3-0 loss against Newcastle at St James’ Park. Fabian Schar’s goal either side of the break put Newcastle in a commanding position before Ayoze Perez was able to add an icing on the cake in injury time.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Arsenal are in a poor shape coming into the match with the impressive home win over Chelsea being the only success for the team, but they have the potential to capitalise on a very poor Cardiff team. Arsenal’s offence still remains spectacular with the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette dominating the scoresheets. Cardiff may try to defend deep but they are unlikely to hold out for much longer. I would back a victory for Arsenal along with under 3.5 goals.

Cardiff City have been unable to score in the last four matches. Even though they are likely to be keen about taking advantage of Arsenal’s highline, it is unlikely that Arsenal will be in a mood to concede goals after letting three against United. I would pick a clean sheet for Arsenal.

Arsenal win and under 3.5 goals – 5/4

Arsenal clean sheet – 10/11

Arsenal saw over 1.5 goals in 8 out of their last 10 games played

Arsenal Preview

Unai Emery is finally looking to dip into the transfer market in order to strengthen Arsenal’s highly inconsistent squad. The team has come up with very few impressive performances – like the win over Chelsea – over the last few weeks. The Gunners cannot get away with mediocrity in the Premier League and the potential arrival of Ivan Perisic could help improve matters. Arsenal also need to shore up the defence, which has not been entirely convincing due to the high defensive line employed by the manager. Arsenal need more defenders who are capable of handling a high defensive line.

Arsenal Team News

Henrikh Mkhitaryan (ankle) is doubtful for the game. Danny Welbeck (ankle), Hector Bellerin (cruciate ligament), Lauren Koscielny (jaw), Rob Holding (cruciate ligament), and Sokratis Papastathopoulos (ankle) are unavailable for Arsenal.

Cardiff City Preview

Cardiff are once again back among a sea of disappointing results with the team failing to score in the last four matches without exception. During this period, Cardiff have suffered 3-0 defeat on two occasions while the biggest disappointment was being knocked out of the FA Cup by Gillingham, who play two divisions below. There is little doubt that Cardiff perform very well in home games, but the club’s last victory did come on the road. The situation surrounding new signing Emiliano Sala is likely to depress the mood even further at the club.

Cardiff City Team News

Ashley Richards (hamstring), Sean Morrison (abdominal injury), Kenneth Zohore (thigh), Harry Arter (groin), and Matthew Connolly (illness) are unavailable for Cardiff.
