Arsenal vs Burnley Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Arsene Wenger is heading for a disappointing exit from Arsenal as his team were knocked out of Europa League after a 1-0 loss against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano. Diego Costa came up with the only goal just before half-time to break Wenger’s team. Arsenal had opportunities to score but were unable to finish off the same. The gunners were beaten 2-1 by Manchester United in the latest league outing. Burnley failed to capitalise on Arsenal’s misery once again as the team could only get a goalless draw with Brighton. Sean Dyche’s team had plenty of opportunities but Brighton were extremely stubborn and defended with numbers.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Arsenal will look to give manager Arsene Wenger a perfect send-off, but it may have only arrived in the form of a Europa League final. Now that it has gone out of the window, it is possible to expect a deflated Arsenal team. Burnley have been unable to get over the line in difficult matches and this will once again be apparent at the Emirates stadium. Recent games between Burnley and Arsenal have been extremely close, but I would back a draw in this game.

The winning margin in the last five matches between Arsenal and Burnley has been at one goal. Even though Arsenal have come out on top in all of the five encounters, the result is a demonstration of the close nature of this fixture. I would go with under 2.5 goals in total.

Draw – 16/5

Total goals under 2.5 – 6/5

Arsenal saw over 1.5 goals in 8 out of their last 10 games played

Arsenal have conceeded only 4 goals in their last 10 games against Burnley

Arsenal Preview

Arsenal will come into the game with a lot of mixed emotions. Banners supporting Arsene Wenger would have unfolded if the club had reached the Europa League final, but the game will still be a lot about Wenger – albeit in a subdued manner. Arsenal will have to settle for a sixth place finish – the lowest finish since the 94/95 campaign when the club were coached by Stewart Houston. It is undoubtedly a disappointing exit for Arsene Wenger, who has done a lot for the club in many ways. Arsenal could still face the embarrassment of dropping behind Burnley, who are just three points behind coming into the game.

Arsenal Team News

Lauren Koscielny (Achilles tendon) and Santi Cazorla (Achilles tendon) are the two injury concerns for Arsenal.

Burnley Preview

Burnley have been unable to find the extra zing required to get them into the automatic Europa League qualification places. In the ability to win the last three league matches has almost cost the club a sixth place finish, as the Clarets are finding it difficult to get that winning goal. The likelihood of finishing in the sixth place is still feasible given Arsenal’s poor form, but a large hinges upon the upcoming match at Emirates. Burnley may be hindered by the potential absence of Chris Wood for this match. Ashley Barnes is the next big goal threat for the club in the absence of the New Zealand International.

Burnley Team News

Chris Wood is doubtful with a heart problem, while Ben Mee (shin), Robert Brady (knee), and Steven Defour (knee) are still unavailable for Burnley.
