Arsenal vs BATE Borisov Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

BATE Borisov are still targeting a place into the Europa League knockout stages when they travel to the Emirates Stadium to take on the already-qualified Arsenal on Thursday night. Arsenal lost 1-0 on the road at FC Koln last time out in the Europa League, but it has to be said that they were already the winners of this group. Meanwhile, BATE Borisov managed to secure a nil-nil home draw against Red Star Belgrade, in a game in which they failed to deliver a single shot on target. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview. Feel free to visit our Bet of the day page to check our best daily tips.

Betting Predictions and Tips

It’s tricky to predict the winner in this one, as Arsenal have already qualified for the next stage of the competition and they also have a difficult trip to Southampton in the Premier League next weekend. Meanwhile, BATE are in dire need of a victory, but they haven’t been at their best in Europe over the past few years. Our preview anticipates a tight affair with few goals scored here.

Arsenal Preview

Arsenal are without victory in two Europa League games at the moment, but their first three victories in this group were enough for them to qualify for the next stage of the competition. They sit comfortably at the top of the group H table with ten points after five rounds and will stay on this position regardless the outcome of this game. The Gunners have a tricky trip to Southampton in the Premier League this weekend, so I expect Arsene Wenger to rest the most important players for this clash with BATE Borisov. Arsenal were on a three-game winning streak in the Premier League prior to their 1-3 home loss against Manchester United at the weekend. It has to be said that the Gunners were completely unlucky to not beat the Red Devils as they had a huge 75% ball possession and 33 goalscoring opportunities. At home, Arsenal were on a twelve-game unbeaten streak across all competitions prior to their loss against Manchester United. This was Arsenal's first appearance in the Europa League group stage, which means they are undefeated in their only two home fixtures in this competition. Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott have been Arsenal’s most prolific players in front of goal throughout this Europa League group stage campaign, having scored two goals each.

Arsenal Team News

Santiago Cazorla and Krystian Bielik are still missing through injury, while Theo Walcott and Shkodran Mustafi are doubts. The good news is that Gedion Zelalem and Alexis Sanchez are both back in training.

BATE Borisov Preview

Meanwhile, BATE Borisov have endured a mixed run of form throughout this Europa League group stage campaign, registering one win, two draws and two defeats in their five group fixtures. They currently sit bottom of the group H table with five points, but they still stand a chance as they are just one point behind FC Koln and Red Star Belgrade, who will be facing each other in the other group fixture. Keeping the ball out of their own net have been BATE’s biggest problem throughout this Europa League campaign, as they hold the world defensive record in the group with ten goals conceded in five rounds. Domestically, BATE have enjoyed a solid season as they currently sit top of the Vysshaya Liga table tied on 68 points with the second-placed Dinamo Minsk. In addition, Bate can count on their recent away form as they have only lost once in their last nine games across all competitions, scoring at least two goals in seven of these. Regarding their Europa League away record over the past few years, BATE have only won once in their last seven trips.

BATE Borisov Team News

There are no fresh injury concerns for BATE Borisov ahead of this trip.
