Angers vs Paris Saint Germain Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to end this disappointing season on a high note by lifting the Coupe de France trophy when they take on Angers on Saturday evening. Angers won 2-0 at home over Guingamp in the Semi-finals, with Thomas Mangani and Karl Toko Ekambi getting on the scoresheet for Stephane Moulin’s men. Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain picked up a comfortable 5-0 home victory over Monaco in the previous round thanks to goals from Julian Draxler, Edinson Cavani, Blaise Matuidi, Marquinhos and an own-goal by Safwan MBae. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Paris Saint-Germain have been fantastic throughout their Coupe de France campaign, and with silverware on the line I’m backing them to secure another big-margin victory here. Les Parisiens have scored 22 goals and conceded none in their five Coupe de France fixtures this season. In addition, PSG already beat Angers twice this season, scoring four goals while conceding none.

Angers Preview

Angers finished their Ligue 1 campaign on a high note, winning two and drawing once of their final three league outings. Furthermore, Angers kept a clean sheet in each of their last two games in Ligue 1. Angers finished the season in 12th spot in the standings tied on 46 points with the 11th-placed Lille, ten points clear of the drop zone. Angers were promoted back to Ligue 1 in 2015 and have consolidated nicely, finishing 9th and 12th in the last two seasons. Angers’ main issue throughout their Ligue 1 campaign has been their inefficient attack as they only managed 40 goals in 38 league outings. Famara Diedhiou and Karl Toko Ekambi have been Angers’ most dangerous players in front of goal so far this season, as the pair bagged 15 goals and five assists between them. Regarding their Coupe de France campaign, Angers managed to beat Granville, Caen, CA Bastia, Bordeaux and Guingamp en-route to the final. The most interesting fact is that Angers have scored at least two goals in four of these five Coupe de France fixtures, despite struggling in front of goal throughout their Ligue 1 campaign.

Angers Team News

Dickson Nwakaeme and Abdoulaye Bamba are both doubts, but Billy Ketkephomphone and Yoann Andreu are both missing through injury.

Paris Saint Germain Preview

Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to complete a domestic Cup double after they failed to win the Ligue 1 title for the first time over the past five years. Les Parisiens finished in second in the standings with 87 points under their belts after 38 rounds, eight points behind the new Ligue 1 champions Monaco. PSG are currently on a three-game unbeaten streak, which includes a 1-1 home draw against Caen on the final day of the season. PSG’s Ligue 1 campaign was largely based on their solid defence as they had the best defensive record in the division, conceding just 27 goals in 38 league outings. They have also been successful at the other end of the field with 83 goals under their belts, including 35 from the league’s top scorer Edinson Cavani. PSG already managed to lift a trophy this year, as they won the Coupe de la Ligue at the beginning of April following a comfortable 1-4 victory over Monaco in the final round. In reaching the final, les Parisiens registered back-to-back wins over SC Bastia, Rennes, Niort, Avranches and Monaco. The most impressive fact is that PSG have kept a clean sheet in each of those games. They beat Monaco 5-0 in the Semi-finals, but the Monegasque side fielded an under-strength side due to their commitments in the Champions League and Ligue 1.

Paris Saint Germain Team News

Thomas Meunier and Lavyin Kurzawa are both missing through injury, while Marco Verratti is a doubt. The good news is that Thiago Silva, Hatem Ben Arfa and Grzegorz Krychowiak are all back in training.
