Amiens vs Marseille Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

Marseille will be aiming to get back to winning ways in Ligue 1 when they travel to the Stade de la Licorne to take on the newcomers Amiens on Sunday at lunchtime. Amiens picked up a comfortable 0-1 victory on the road at the fellow newcomers Strasbourg last weekend, with Gael Kakuta scoring the winner in the 13th minute. On the contrary, Marseille lost 1-3 at home at the hands of Rennes last time out in Ligue 1, with their consolation goal being scored by Morgan Sanson with just three minutes to go. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

This is a great opportunity for Amiens to extend their winning streak in Ligue 1 as Marseille have been terrible in their last two league fixtures, conceding nine goals in the process. Although that OM definitely have more quality within their ranks than Amiens, I think that the minnows can get on the scoresheet so a bet of Both teams to score at odds 4/5 look great value. Here are our best two betting tips for this game:

Both teams to score - Yes at 4/5

Marseille to win at 21/20

Amiens saw over 1.5 goals in 9 out of their last 10 games played

Amiens have conceeded only 4 goals in their last 2 games against Marseille

Marseille saw over 1.5 goals in 9 out of their last 10 games played

Marseille are undefeated in all of their last 2 games against Amiens

Amiens Preview

Amiens kicked off the new Ligue 1 campaign in a terrible manner, registering three successive defeats at the hands of Paris Saint Germain, Angers and Saint-Etienne, without scoring a single goal in the process. However, the minnows have improved considerably recently as they beat Nice 3-0 at home prior to the International break and followed this up with a narrow 0-1 win at Strasbourg last weekend. Their defence looked great recently as after conceding seven goals in the opening three rounds, they have kept a clean sheet each of their last two league games. This leaves Amiens in 13rd spot in the Ligue 1 table tied on six points with Guingamp and Nice, just two points clear of the bottom three. Amiens used to be a strong side at home in Ligue 2 last season, but they were on a four-game winless streak across all competitions prior to their 3-0 home win over Nice a fortnight ago. The good news is that Amiens have scored at least two goals in four of their last five competitive home fixtures. Moussa Konate and Gael Kakuta have both been in fine shape throughout this early part of the season, as the pair bagged four goals and one assist between them.

Amiens Team News

Charly Charrier is a doubt, but Guessouma Fofana is still out through injury. The good news is that Mathieu Bodmer is back in training following his calf injury.

Marseille Preview

Marseille, on the other hand, were unbeaten in three Ligue 1 games before suffering back-to-back defeats at the hands of Monaco and Rennes in their most recent two league fixtures. Actually, those were the only two defeats in their last 27 games across all competitions. The good news is that they managed a narrow 1-0 home victory over Konyaspor in their Europa League group stage opener on Thursday, with Adil Rami scoring the winner in the second half. Regarding their Ligue 1 campaign, OM find themselves in 10th in the standings tied on seven points with other two teams, just one point clear of their Sunday’s opponents. Conceding has been Marseille’s biggest problem recently as they allowed nine goals in their last two league fixtures. At the other end of the field, OM have scored seven goals in five rounds, including three from their topscorer Clinton N’Jie. Valere Germain has also been in fine shape in this early part of the season, helping the team with two assists in his five league appearances. Away from home, Marseille were on an eleven-game unbeaten streak across all competitions prior to their 6-1 loss on the road at Monaco in their most recent league trip.

Marseille Team News

Konstantinos Mitroglou and Aymen Abdennour are expected to be sidelined with injuries.
