AFC Bournemouth vs Southampton Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Bournemouth capitalised on numerical advantage over Watford to pick up a 4-0 victory over the Hornets at Vicarage Road. An early goal from David Brooks was the differentiating factor between the two clubs before Kabasele received his marching orders in the 32nd minute. Bournemouth capitalised on the advantage by scoring through Joshua King (2) and Callum Wilson. Southampton lost 3-0 against Chelsea as Mark Hughes’ losing streak as a manager against the blues continued. Goals from Eden Hazard, Ross Barkley, and Alvaro Morata were able to get a convincing win for Maurizio Sarri’s team.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Bournemouth have been able to pick up just one victory over Southampton in the last three league meetings with the Saints at the Vitality Stadium. However, the odds are in favour of the Cherries, who have been brilliant so far this season. Even without Joshua King, Bournemouth should have more than enough strength to get past a Southampton team that has been very disappointing so far this season. Even though the Saints are expected to go in with a defensive approach, I would pick a win for Bournemouth.

The game is expected to be low on goals even if Bournemouth have been able to find the back of the net with great consistency. The partnership between Wilson and King has been a decisive factor behind the goals. Southampton are also expected to be quite defensive after conceding three goals in their recent league match. I would pick under 2.5 goals in the match.

AFC Bournemouth Preview

The cherries have been flying high in the Premier League from the start of the campaign. Even though the club will be without a key player in the form of King for the game, Eddie Howe has the ability to find a suitable replacement without altering their style of play. Bournemouth have been exceptionally good at home with three wins in four games. After having been expected to challenge for the top 10 places, Bournemouth find themselves pushing for a European spot in the early part of this campaign and a lot has to do with the club’s solid play so far this season. King is the club’s top scorer with four goals, although most of his goals have been from the penalty spot.

AFC Bournemouth Team News

Bournemouth will be without Joshua King (ankle) and Ryan Fraser (hamstring) for the game.

Southampton Preview

Southampton have been a major disappointment so far this season and manager Mark Hughes is back on the pressure after watching his team slipped to 3 consecutive losses. The Saints are just above the bottom three places owing to a return of just one victory in the first eight games of the campaign. Southampton have been very poor going forward and they continue to rely heavily on Danny Ings in order to get anything out of games. Unsurprisingly, the Liverpool forward, who is on loan at the club, is their top scorer with three goals.

Southampton Team News

Stuart Armstrong is unavailable for the game.
