AFC Bournemouth vs Newcastle United Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Bournemouth’s three-game unbeaten sequence ended with a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s stadium. Alex Pritchard’s seventh-minute goal was cancelled out by Junior Stanislas in the 13th minute. Steve Mounie was able to restore Huddersfield’s lead just before the 30th minute mark. Second-half goals from Steve Cook (own goal) and a late penalty from Van La Parra secured a big win for Huddersfield. Newcastle picked up a 1-0 win over Manchester United in one of the best results for Rafa Benitez this season. Matt Ritchie scored the only goal of the game in the 65th minute, as Newcastle defended valiantly for a win.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Bournemouth are aiming for a third consecutive win over Newcastle. Surprisingly, both of those previous wins have been at the St James’ Park. The Cherries have a great opportunity to pick up a first home win over Newcastle, as Rafa Benitez’ team have been poor on the road. They are coming up against a Bournemouth team that has won three consecutive games at the Vitality Stadium. I would back a home win in this game. There have been defensive issues for Bournemouth, as they have conceded 13 goals in the last eight Premier League games. Despite Newcastle’s poor form in front of goal, the Geordie outfit has been able to score in four out of the last five away trips. I would back both teams to score.

Bournemouth win – 21/20

Both teams to score – 4/5

AFC Bournemouth saw over 1.5 goals in 9 out of their last 10 games played

AFC Bournemouth have conceeded only 4 goals in their last 4 games against Newcastle United

AFC Bournemouth Preview

Bournemouth impressive run was always going to end, but manager Eddie Howe would not have envisaged his team suffering a heavy loss at the hands of relegation-threatened Huddersfield. The just-concluded seven-match unbeaten run in the Premier League will be hard to match, but this run has provided Bournemouth with a real tilt at the top eight places. The European qualification races may not go down to the wire this season, but Bournemouth are likely to be fighting for the eighth spot alongside the likes of Burnley and Leicester City. Callum Wilson is the top scorer but with only seven league goals so far.

AFC Bournemouth Team News

Jermain Defoe (ankle), Tyrone Mings (back), and Rhoys Wiggins (knee) are the players are missing from action for Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe.

Newcastle United Preview

The win over Manchester United was only the fourth home win of the season for Rafa Benitez, but the Geordies can take a lot of positives from the victory. In the last 13 Premier League outings, Newcastle have been able to get only three wins. St James’ Park has had a reputation for being a fortress in the past, but Newcastle would be sitting in the 17th place if only home games were taken into account. Newcastle tried to address the issue of goals in January, but the team continue to remain poor in front of goal. The team has the second worst offensive record in the top 13 places. Joselu is the top scorer with four goals.

Newcastle United Team News

Ciaran Clark (knee) and Islam Slimani (thigh) are the injury issues for Rafa Benitez.
