AFC Bournemouth vs Leicester City Match Prediction

By Dean Carr

Bournemouth host Leicester City at the Vitality Stadium on 30/09/17 in a meeting of two sides who have struggled at the start of the season. Bournemouth threw away a lead and lost 2-1 at Everton last weekend, as Leicester went down 3-2 at home to Liverpool. Read on for a full match preview complete with betting tips and predictions.

Betting Tips and Predictions

It’s crucial that neither of these teams lose here, with both sides coming into the game in the bottom four of the table. I’m expecting an open contest and with home advantage on their side, would back Bournemouth to win it.

AFC Bournemouth Preview

Having led with fifteen minutes remaining at Goodison Park, Eddie Howe will have been extremely disappointed in his team that they were not able to hold on to the win on Merseyside following their 2-1 defeat away to Everton. After a tame first half, Josh King’s lwo drive from the edge of the box put the Cherries into a surprise early lead as they looked to inflict yet more misery on an out-of-form Everton side. However, an unlikely hero emerged from the substitutes bench for the Toffees, as Oumar Niasse scored twice for Everton, equalising in the 77th minute with a lethal finish before netting the winner from close range in the 82nd minute. The result leaves Bournemouth sat in the relegation zone heading into this weekend’s game with just three points from their opening six games. Despite facing the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton during that time, they still would’ve expected a far better return from their opening fixtures than what they currently have taken. Losing to both West Brom and Watford has left them in a difficult position, with this already seen as something of a must-win game for Howe’s men.

AFC Bournemouth Team News

Adam Federici (knee), Tyrone Mings (back) and Callum Wilson (cruciate ligament) are all ruled out for the Cherries here.

Leicester City Preview

Leicester failed to make it four straight wins over Liverpool at the King Power Stadium last weekend as Jurgen Klopp picked up his first win away to the Foxes after a 3-2 success. Philippe Coutinho was hugely influential in the result, crossing for Mohamed Salah who headed in at the far post, before the Brazilian then struck an excellent free-kick from the edge of the box to make it 2-0. Shinji Okazaki restored hope before half-time, as Jordan Henderson and Jamie Vardy exchanged efforts for their teams before a golden chance to make it 3-3. Vardy stepped up to take a Leicester penalty after being fouled in the area but saw his effort saved by Simon Mignolet, with Craig Shakespeare’s side now four games without a Premier League win. They themselves have accrued just a point more than Bournemouth from their opening six games, although have arguably faced the toughest opening six matches of any side in the Premier League. Leicester’s away form has been an issue for some time now, collecting just two wins from their previous twenty-four outings on the road in the Premier League.

Leicester City Team News

Matt James (achilles) is ruled out once again for Leicester. Leonardo Ulloa (head) and Robert Huth (ankle) are doubtful.
