AFC Bournemouth Preview

Bournemouth may still not quite be where they want to be, but their win at Newcastle United was a huge result , as it took the Cherries out of the relegation zone and up to 17th in the Premier League table. In truth, the game could’ve gone either way but defender Steve Cook produced the defining moment of the match, rising highest in the box to head in Andrew Surman’s corner in the 92nd minute to ensure they would rise above both Swansea City and West Ham United in the league table. Now winning three of their last four in all competitions, Chelsea are the only team to deny Bournemouth victory since October 21, with perhaps the most pleasing aspect of this streak coming in the way of back-to-back away wins over Stoke and Newcastle. Now they will be looking to improve a home record which has seen them win just one league game in five at the Vitality Stadium, though Bournemouth have won twice at home in the Carabao Cup this season. One thing this team is currently lacking is a goalscorer, with Jermain Defoe, Josh King and Benik Afobe all combining to score just two league goals in 28 appearances between them, though there are now further options in the return to fitness of Callum WIlson to increase competition for places.

AFC Bournemouth Team News

Brad Smith (hip) and Junior Stanislas (groin) look set to miss out once again for Bournemouth. Adam Federici (knee), Tyrone Mings (back) and Benik Afobe (groin) are ruled out.

Huddersfield Town Preview

Many a Huddersfield town would’ve taken simply being out of the relegation zone at the point of the third international break of the season - let alone sitting in the top ten as they currently find themselves. The Terriers’ 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion helped them move up to 10th in the Premier League table, further emphasising the excellent job David Wagner has done under relatively modest resources. Rajiv van La Parra - an £800,000 signing from Wolves in July 2016 - scored the game’s only goal, doing so with arguably the goal of the weekend as he bent the ball into the top corner with a superb effort from 20 yards. The win proved to be their third in six home games this season and they have lost just once at the John Smith’s Stadium in the Premier League, with Tottenham Hotspur securing a 4-0 win in Yorkshire. Wagner really can’t have asked for much more from his side at home, but their away form still leaves plenty to be desired. Huddersfield are without a win or a goal away from home since their stunning 3-0 win at Crystal Palace on the opening day of the season, since losing three and drawing one of their four away games since. Becoming more of a threat on the road will be key if hey want to make their survival challenge as comfortable as possible.

Huddersfield Town Team News

Michael Hefele (achilles), Philip Billing (ankle), Jon Gorenc-Stankovic (cruciate ligament) and Kasey Palmer (hamstring) are all set to miss out. Christopher Schindler is suspended following his red card against West Brom.
