Arsenal are in real need of a victory here, and despite the uncertainty surrounding the future of their start players, I’m expecting them to get just that against an out-of-form Bournemouth side.

AFC Bournemouth Preview

Eddie Howe will know just how fortunate his team are to still be in the FA Cup after being forced to come back from a goal down to draw 2-2 with League One side Wigan Athletic at the Vitality Stadium last time out. Will Grigg scored after just four minutes to put the Latics in front at the home of the Premier League side, before Emerson Hyndman’s own goal left the hosts with a mountain to climb. However, they were able to do so in the second half, first responding through Lys Mousset’s first goal for the club on 55 minutes, while Steve Cook’s equaliser came in the second minute of stoppage time to ensure the Cherries lived to fight another day. A tie against either Shrewsbury or West Ham will await Howe’s side should they be successful in their replay, though their current league predicament will see surely see that take priority over a cup run. Bournemouth are just a point above the relegation zone at present, sitting 16th in the table, with both they and south coast rivals Southampton in jeopardy of facing the drop. Unbeaten in their last three in the Premier League, Bournemouth will be hoping to fare better here than they last did against a European-chasing side, with Liverpool claiming a 4-0 win away to the Cherries.

AFC Bournemouth Team News

Tyrone Mings (back), Junior Stanislas, Josh King (both hamstring) and Jermain Defoe (ankle) are all absent here.

Arsenal Preview

Arsenal’s wait for a win continued at Stamford Bridge in midweek, though they are unlikely to complain with the result after earning a 0-0 draw against Chelsea in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final. Unlike so many of their trips to Chelsea over recent times, this was a resilient performance from Arsene Wenger’s side, whom was somewhat vindicated in his decision to leave out Alexis Sanchez in place of Danny Welbeck and Alex Iwobi. It may not leave the Gunners favourites heading into the return leg, but they are well and truly in the tie still and will fancy their chances at home. What perhaps makes that result all the more impressive is the Gunners’ away record in the Premier League this season, which has seen them win only three of a possible 11 on the road so far. That will make them feel wary of complacency here, with the likes of Southampton, West Ham and West Brom all holding them to draws in recent weeks, showing how sides in the bottom half of the table have given them problems of late. Winning only two of their last eight games overall in the Premier League, Arsenal are fortunate not to now be further than five points behind Liverpool in 4th place at this moment in time.

Arsenal Team News

Sead Kolasinac (knee), Nacho Monreal (ankle) and Olivier Giroud (hamstring) are ruled out. Jack Wilshere (ankle) and Mesut Ozil (knee) will be assessed, while Laurent Koscielny and Santi Cazorla (both achilles) remain missing.
