ADO Den Haag vs Excelsior Match Prediction

By Marius Hrebenciuc

ADO Den Haag will be aiming to extend their unbeaten streak in the Eredivisie to five games when they welcome Excelsior at the Cars Jeans Stadion on Sunday afternoon. ADO Den Haag managed a narrow 0-1 away victory at NAC Breda last time out thanks to a late goal from Tom Beugelsdijk. Meanwhile, Excelsior lost 0-2 at home against the newcomers Venlo, with Mitchell van der Gaag’s men conceding a goal in each half. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news, match stats and odds all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Predictions and Tips

Although Excelsior have struggled of late, they have been strong on the road over throughout this campaign, so I’m expecting a tricky fixture. Both sides looked poor going forward in this early part of the campaign, so I’m not fancying goals in this one.

ADO Den Haag Preview

ADO Den Haag started the new season with three consecutive defeats, but their recent form has seen them lose just once in their last six games across all competitions. They are undefeated in four league games at the moment in time, including back-to-back 1-0 victories over Sparta Rotterdam and NAC Breda in their most recent two league fixtures. They now sit in 9th in the Eredivisie table tied on ten points with Utrecht, just two points behind the top seven. Scoring has definitely been ADO’s main problem in this early part of the campaign as they hold the second joint worst attacking record in the division with just six goals scored in seven rounds. Nasser El Khayati has been ADO’s standout player in this early part of the campaign, helping the team with three goals and one assist in his five league appearances. ADO can count on their home form over the past six months, losing just two of their last ten home fixtures across all competitions. Furthermore, ADO are unbeaten in nine home meetings with Excelsior across all competitions, winning five in the process. Actually, their last defeat at the hands of Excelsior was in March 2014.

ADO Den Haag Team News

Ricardo Kishna is out through a knee injury, while Tom Beugelsdijk is missing through suspension.

Excelsior Preview

Excelsior’s recent run of form has seen them win just once in their last seven games across all competitions. After a 0-2 away win at AZ Alkmaar three weeks ago, Excelsior suffered a disappointing 0-2 home loss at the hands of the newcomers Venlo prior to the International break. They have struggled to keep the ball out of their own net recently, conceding at least two goals in five of their last six games across all competitions. They also looked poor going forward in this term as they managed just seven goals in seven rounds. Despite this poor attacking record, Luigi Bruins has enjoyed a decent start to the season as he is the team’s topscorer with three goals in his seven league appearances. Excelsior should feel confident ahead of this trip as they are undefeated in three away league fixtures so far this season, scoring two goals in each of these. The worrying thing is that Excelsior are winless in nine visits to the Cars Jeans Stadion since a 2-3 win back in 2000. The good thing is they have scored at least once in eight of these.

Excelsior Team News

Alessandro Damen is a doubt, but Stanley Elbers is back in training following his knee injury.
