Adelaide United vs Melbourne City FC Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Adelaide United dropped more points in the league after being involved in a 2-2 draw with Melbourne Victory during the weekend. The opening goal from Besart Berisha was cancelled out by a brace from Vince Lia. However, Adelaide were unable to sustain this advantage after conceding late through Mitchell Austin. In the midweek FFA Cup match, Adelaide overcame Western Sydney 2-1 to reach the finals. Melbourne City beat Wellington Phoenix 1-0 to manage three consecutive wins at the start of the A-League 2017-18 season. Ross McCormack scored his first goal since the summer move from Aston Villa, and his long-range free kick was sufficient to give City a win. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Melbourne City and Adelaide have shared the spoils in recent six meetings with each managing three wins apiece. Adelaide, though, have been able to claim three wins in the last five home games against City. The match witnesses Adelaide drawing two of the opening three games, while City have the disadvantage of an away game. I would go with this game to produce a draw. Johan Absalonsen has had a brilliant start to his life in the A-League after scoring two goals in the three matches. He also scored in the FFA Cup against Western Sydney Wanderers to make it three goals in his last four games. I would go with Absalonsen to score anytime in the game.

Draw – 13/5
Johan Absalonsen to score anytime – 8/5

Adelaide United Preview

Adelaide United will be quite happy with the start to the 2017-18 A-League campaign. The club may have picked up just one win in the three matches, but they are undefeated in the last five in all competitions. The team has also been able to set up a date with Sydney in the finals of the FFA Cup. Last season, Adelaide finished just one place above the bottom but things are looking on the up for the team this season. The biggest worry for the team may be the lack of clean sheets, but the team has certainly come a long way from being the lowest scorers in the 2016-17 campaign to managing five in the opening three matches.

Adelaide United Team News

Adelaide United manager Marco Kurz does not have any injury or suspension worries coming into the match.

Melbourne City FC Preview

Melbourne City have made a roaring start to the A-League 2017-18 season after managing to win the first three matches. The team has come up against some decent competition in the form of Melbourne Victory and Wellington Phoenix, but they have been able to come out with flying colours. There have been two clean sheets in those three wins. It is a huge positive that the club have been able to get these results without Bruno Fornaroli in the team. The forward came up with 17 out of the 49 goals scored by the club last season. This time around, Bruce Kamau has been leading this charts with three in three.

Melbourne City FC Team News

Bruno Fornaroli (malleolar) is now only injury concern for Michael Valkanis.
