AC Milan vs Roma Match Prediction

By William Hall

AC Milan welcome Roma to the San Siro this weekend and with both teams coming into this one on great form, this game shapes up to be a thriller. Inter Milan suffered a defeat last weekend in Serie A as Sampdoria beat them 2-0 away from home. But Milan made up for it midweek thanks to a late goal beating Croatian opponents Rijeka 3-2 in the Europa League. Roma have suffered just one defeat this season and come into this one off the back of four straight wins, including a 2-1 win over Qarabag midweek in the Champions League. Read on for a full match preview complete with all our best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

With both teams coming into this game on very good runs, it makes it very difficult to back an outright winner. However, both teams to score looks a great bet this weekend with four of the last five meetings between these two teams smashing that market. Both sides have players who are in goalscoring forms which makes me think we could be in for a goal fest this weekend. In fact, AC Milan have already been involved in four games this season which has hit the both teams to score market which backs up that selection even more.

Roma have been very impressive on the road recently which makes it hard to say they will go away with nothing this season. Although AC Milan have been winning games, they haven't been looking as good as people may think they have. They were outplayed by Sampdoria last weekend and let a two-goal lead slip midweek in the Europa League. So for me, Roma will get something this weekend.

AC Milan Preview

AC Milan look a much better side this season and have won all but two of their first ten matches in all competitions. They suffered their second defeat of the season last weekend as Sampdoria put two past them to take all three points. A reaction was needed on Thursday evening in the Europa League and they only just got one thanks to a 94th-minute winner from Cutrone. AC were cruising in the game leading 2-0 in the 80th minute. However, two quick-fire goals from the away team looked as if they were going to get the point. But a 94th-minute winner saved the day for the home side meaning they can go into this weekends game with a lot of confidence. AC Milan is a fortress yet again this season as Milan have won four on the bounce. In fact, the last team to beat AC Milan at the San Siro was Roma. They will be hoping there is not a repeat of that 4-1 loss this weekend.

AC Milan Team News

AC Milan have four players out this weekend with Davide Calabria (groin injury), Luca Antonelli (muscle injury), Riccardo Montolivo (thigh injury) and Andrea Conti (knee injury) all sidelined.

Roma Preview

Roma have had a solid start to the season and come into this one off the back of four straight wins. Eden Dzeko has been on fire for the Italian side scoring six goals in just five games so far this season. He has formed an excellent partnership with El Shaarawy which is causing all sorts of problems for many teams in Italy and Europe. Away from home in Serie A, Roma have been impressive winning nine in a row stretching back to last season. This run includes victories over Inter Milan and AC Milan showing they are not fazed by the prospect of playing at the San Siro. During the week Roma made it four points in two games in the Champions League thanks to a 2-0 win over Qarabag. Roma looks as if they sealed the deal with two goals in the first 15 minutes of the game. The home team that night got a goal back just before the 30th minute which made it squeaky bum time for Roma, but they looked comfortable holding on for the win.

Roma Team News

Roma have a huge injury list this weekend with Emerson (Emerson (ACL), Diego Perotti (thigh injury), Gregoire Defreal (thigh injury), Hector Moreno (thigh injury) Abdullahi (thigh injury) Luca Pellegrini (ACL) and Patrik Schick (hamstring injury) all out.
