AC Milan vs Cagliari Match Prediction

By Phill Barrs

Cagliari's very difficult start to their 2017/18 season continues on match day two as they travel to the San Siro to face a revamped AC Milan side. Milan came away with a big win on week one by defeating ten man Crotone, who were reduced to ten after just three minutes, by a score of 0-3. Franck Kessie scored from the spot after just six minutes before 19 year old Patrick Cutrone scored just 12 minutes later. The scoring was complete after 23 minutes when Suso found the back of the net following Cutrone's assist. They also played on Thursday against Shkendija in the second leg of their Europa League in Macedonia, and they won 0-1 thanks to a goal from Patrick Cutrone after just 13 minutes to make it 7-0 on aggregate. Cagliari started their season away to the champions Juventus and lost 0-3 in Turin. Below we have our betting tips, predictions, team news and match stats all in our SBAT preview.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Looking at last season's results are basically useless in this instance as Milan have spent a boat load on over a full team of players this summer. Overall, though, Milan have only lost three times to Cagliari all time. It will be hard for them to repeat any of those rare victories, especially against a very much improved Milan side. Milan to win and keep a clean sheet can bring you 10/11 odds, which is better than you can get for a straight up Milan win. Milan, with a handicap of -2 is at 11/8 to overcome it.

AC Milan Preview

AC Milan will come into this match with a ton of momentum after they wiped away Crotone last weekend as well as swatting aside the Macedonian opposition in the Europa League. They are also riding the wave of all of the transfers throughout the course of the summer, which have made the team into something of a force overnight. They are not playing great sides right now, but they have ten goals through three official matches. And this match with Cagliari looks like being another chance to add even more goals to the tally. You have got to like their chances of winning and winning comfortably in this match as they head into the break.

AC Milan Team News

Milan will be unable to call upon center midfielder Lucas Biglia and wide man Giacomo Bonaventura until at least September. New striker signing Nikola Kalinic could play some role in this match.

Cagliari Preview

Cagliari's start to the season is just about an impossible task. To have to play host to Juventus and then to the San Siro to play what is essentially a brand new Milan side is just a tall order for anyone. That's really the case with Cagliari. For them, they would have known that points from these two matches would be nothing but a bonus for them. Their season will truly start after the international break concludes, when they take on Crotone. They should approach this game in a free manner knowing they have no expectations, and that all of the pressure is squarely on Milan.

Cagliari Team News

After sustaining a knee injury last December, center forward Federico Melchiorri remains out.
