Aberdeen vs St.Johnstone Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Aberdeen ended a disappointing winless run with a narrow 1-0 victory over Dundee at the Pittodrie Stadium. Graeme Shinnie scored the only goal of the game in the 35th minute, as he capitalised on a poor judgement by goalkeeper Elliot Parish. St Johnstone were quite impressive in their home game against Hamilton, but the team still managed to come in with just a 1-0 win. Scott McMann’s own goal came after just five minutes to provide the differentiating element in the game. Wright saw his St Johnstone team have six shots on target.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Aberdeen were able to get a narrow win over Dundee, who did have several chances to win the game. This does not look good ahead of a home match against St Johnstone, who are no strangers to winning at the Pittodrie Stadium. In fact, St Johnstone picked up a 2-0 win on this ground at this stage last season. One of the strong points for Aberdeen is a defence that does not leak many goals, but the team has conceded around a goal per game in the last six matches. I would back a draw or win for St Johnstone.

The recent matches for Aberdeen have been quite drying in terms of goals. All of the last four SPL matches for Aberdeen have been with less than 2.5 goals. St Johnstone have been able to score in just two of the seven away matches in 2018. Both teams are quite goal shy and I would back under 2.5 goals in the game.

Aberdeen Preview

Aberdeen were mightily relieved to get the win over Dundee, as it helps keep the club ahead of Hibernian in the table. FA Cup distractions meant that Aberdeen have not been able to fully concentrate on the league football over the last few weeks. After three consecutive matches without a win and a goal, Aberdeen were in danger of dropping behind Hibernian and into the Europa League play-off positions. However, the win over Dundee keeps the club with a slender advantage over Lennon’s team.

Aberdeen Team News

Kenny McLean, Graeme Shinnie, and Shay Logan are all suspended for the game. Aberdeen only have Michael Devlin on the treatment table due to the long-term cruciate ligament injury.

St.Johnstone Preview

A string of positive results over the last few weeks has put St Johnstone in the frame to claw back the sixth place from Hearts. In the remaining two matches of the regular campaign, Wright will be hoping for a dramatic turnaround in results. Hearts have a five-point advantage but could drop behind St Johnstone if the Saints managed to win both matches and Hearts lost theirs. St Johnstone players have left themselves with too much to do, as disastrous few months from September to December have effectively cost the team a place in the top half. In the last few matches, however, St Johnstone have been playing much better football.

St.Johnstone Team News

Tommy Wright has Callum Hendry (knee), Ricky Foster (tendon), and Stefan Scougall (knee) unavailable due to injuries.
