Aberdeen vs Partick Thistle Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Aberdeen’s run of three consecutive victories was halted by a 3-0 loss against Celtic at Celtic Park. Mikael Lustig’s opening goal came in the 40th minute via a deflection, and this goal was built upon by Justin Hayes in the 69th minute. A comprehensive victory for Celtic was established when Olivier Ntcham scored in the 76th minute. Partick Thistle were able to manage a close 1-0 win over Hamilton during the weekend. The decisive goal in the game was scored by Niall Keown from a set piece situation in the 26th minute, while Hamilton came close with David Templeton striking the woodwork. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The head-to-head record for Aberdeen in games against Partick Thistle is close to excellent with six consecutive wins. The last win for Partick Thistle against Aberdeen was in 2014, but one has to go back to 2003 in order to witness Partick Thistle’s last away win over Aberdeen. Partick Thistle have been losing at half-time and full-time in seven out of the 10 away matches this season. Even though Aberdeen’s record in this aspect is not outstanding, I would bet on a win for Aberdeen at half-time and full-time. Partick Thistle have been able to score only once in the last six away games against Aberdeen. Alan Archibald’s team have been poor going forward even in this season’s away matches after scoring only four goals. I would go with a clean sheet for Aberdeen.

Aberdeen Preview

Aberdeen’s heavy loss against Celtic sees them trailing the table leaders by a whopping eight points, but the crucial thing to come out of the weekend may be that the advantage over Rangers has been retained at three points. Aberdeen still look favourites to secure the top two places, but the club are far from being consistent as they were last season. The club lost only four matches at the Pittodrie Stadium throughout the entirety of the 2016-17 SPL campaign, but Derek McInnes has seen his team lose three times already. Adam Rooney is the top scorer at the club with five league goals.

Aberdeen Team News

Greg Tansey (groin) is the only injury worry for Aberdeen coming into the game.

Partick Thistle Preview

The Partick Thistle outfit were able to claim another crucial victory using home advantage, and it has been sufficient to lift the club out of the bottom. Manager Alan Archibald will be reasonably pleased with his team staying in touch with the rest of the teams, as getting cut off may be one of the sure-fire signs of a relegation. As it stands, Partick Thistle only need two points in order to catch Dundee in the 10th place. Any minor improvement in away form will be a major boost for the club, as the team has only picked up three away points this season. Blair Spittal and Chris Erskine are the leading scorers at the club with four goals each.

Partick Thistle Team News

Stuart Bannigan (knee), Gary Fraser (knee), Christie Elliott (ankle), Abdul Osman (shoulder), and Callum Booth (cruciate ligament) are the players unavailable for Partick Thistle.
