Aberdeen vs Kilmarnock Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Aberdeen’s three-game unbeaten run in all competitions ended after they fell to a 2-0 loss against Rangers. Alfredo Morelos converted a delightful cross into the box in the 32nd minute. Several waves of Rangers attack ultimately led to a penalty in the 80th minute, and it was converted by James Tavernier. Adam Rooney had the best chance of the match for Aberdeen. Meanwhile, Kilmarnock extended their brilliant form with a 1-0 win over Ross County in the FA Cup. Lee Erwin scored from a late penalty to push Kilmarnock into the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Kilmarnock have a poor record against Aberdeen after only taking a point off this team in the last six meetings. In fact, Kilmarnock’s last victory over this opponent was back in 2012. Aberdeen come into the game on the back of a three-match unbeaten run at the Pittodrie Stadium. Most of the poster results for Kilmarnock have been at home. Steve Clarke has seen his team pick up only three wins on the road – but Kilmarnock are unbeaten in nine away matches. I would opt for a draw in this match.

The strong defensive run for Kilmarnock has largely been at home. When it comes to the away matches, three out of the last five involving Kilmarnock has produced more than 2.5 goals. Whenever Aberdeen and Kilmarnock have faced each other, there have been goals galore. Only once in the last six meetings between these two has there been under 2.5 goals. Hence, I would go with the opposite.

Aberdeen Preview

Aberdeen have been left wanting in the consistency department ever since rumours surfaced about Derek McInnes being a target for Rangers. Even though the club has recovered sufficiently to pick up victories over the likes of Partick Thistle, they are far from competitive when it comes to matches against the top teams. The manner of the defeat against Rangers will worry McInnes, even if the score was kept at a relatively low 2-0. Aberdeen have brought in Nial McGinn on a free transfer. Over the last six matches, Aberdeen have fared a poor 10 points from a possible 18. Adam Rooney is the top scorer at the club but he has only come up with six goals so far.

Aberdeen Team News

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has a fully fit squad at his disposal.

Kilmarnock Preview

Kilmarnock have been the form team in the Scottish Premier League 2017-18 campaign over the last few weeks. It is not a surprise that the team has picked up 14 points from the last six matches. Ever since Steve Clarke came to the club a couple of months ago, Kilmarnock have been showing a lot of promise and that promise has been converted into results in recent weeks. Even though the club are just outside the top six, it may not be long before Kilmarnock are banging on the doors of a top three place on this rich vein of form. Kris Boyd is the top scorer with nine goals in 18.

Kilmarnock Team News

Manager Steve Clarke will be without Greg Kiltie (knee), Steven Smith (back), and Iain Wilson (knee) due to injuries.
