Aberdeen vs Hibernian Match Prediction

By Bharath Ramm R

Aberdeen strengthened their grip on top three places following a comprehensive 3-0 win over St Johnstone at the McDiarmid Park. Adam Rooney once again hurt St Johnstone after opening the scoring in the 20th minute. Goals from Kari Arnason and Ryan Christie provided Aberdeen with a comprehensive win. Hibernian were at the wrong end of a 2-1 result against Rangers during the weekend. Lewis Stevenson came up with the opening goal after just nine minutes, but Josh Windass and Alfredo Morelos scored in a three-minute spell just before half-time to provide a win for the away team. Here we have our SBAT match preview with all the best predictions, betting tips and match stats.

Betting Tips and Predictions

The contrast of form between these two teams makes it doubly difficult for Hibernian to try and recover from the poor form. Despite being at home and with a good run of form – three wins in the last four, Aberdeen are at an attractive price coming into the game. This is due to Hibernian’s away record, as Neil Lennon’s team are yet to lose on the road. Due to recent form, I would go with a win for Aberdeen.

Aberdeen have found their scoring touch in recent weeks but even then their last six games have returned just eight goals. Hibernian have been unable to score in the last two visits to the Pittodrie Stadium but they were back in 2013 and 2014. This time around, Hibernian have scored nine goals in six away matches. I would go with over 2.5 goals in the game.

Aberdeen Preview

Aberdeen are once again starting to find their best form and this comes at a crucial time when the club have a run of several games in the festive period. If Aberdeen find themselves at the wrong end of the form table going into this run, it would have resulted in teams like Hibernian being able to capitalise. As it stands, Aberdeen will even think about making a tilt for the title with Celtic not at their usual strength this season. The goals from Stevie May and Adam Rooney have been decisive for Aberdeen with both players getting four goals for the campaign.

Aberdeen Team News

Derek McInnes has a fully fit squad available for the game.

Hibernian Preview

Hibernian need to go on a run of victories in order to revive their push for the top three places, as just one win in the last five matches is threatening to put the club out of contention for the European qualification places. Hibernian were extremely strong on the road but it was also at the detriment of home form. At a time when Hibernian would have been making the most out of games at the Easter Road stadium, it is surprising to see the team manage only three wins in nine matches. In the nine away matches, Hibernian have picked up five victories. In fact, they are yet to lose on the road this season. Simon Murray is at six goals in 16 games and he leads the scoring charts at Hibernian.

Hibernian Team News

Hibernian are without Liam Fontaine (ankle), David Gray (knee), and Ross Laidlaw (knee) due to injury.
