UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 - Preview, Betting Tips and Predictions
The UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 will be the 12th edition of this quadrennial International football championship for the women’s national teams of Europe. The previous edition of the tournament included just 12 teams, but UEFA expanded it to 16 countries. Seven countries were interested in hosting the tournament, but eventually, the Netherlands were chosen, and this will be the first time this tournament will be staged in Holland. 47 countries entered the qualifying stages of the competition, including the hosts Netherlands and the debutants Andorra. However, the Netherlands received an automatic qualification spot, while the other 46 teams competed in the qualifying to determine the last 15 spots in the final tournament.
The final draw was held on 8 November 2016 in Rotterdam, and the 16 sides were drawn into four groups of four teams. Each group contained one team from each of the four seeding pots.
Group A Betting Tips and Predictions
Group A is composed by Norway, Denmark, Belgium and the hosts, the Netherlands. Feel free to check our bet of the day page and our best betting football accumulators which will include UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 games.
The Netherlands are favourites to win the group, but the truth is that the group is wide open. They will definitely have a difficult game against Norway, as the Norwegians finished the runners up four years ago and are close to both Belgium and Denmark in terms of rankings. Denmark also had a good Euro 2013 as they reached the Semi-finals and conceded just once in eight qualifiers for Euro 2017. Belgium are the lowest ranked side in the group and they will probably take the wooden spoon.
Prediction: Netherlands to reach the quarter-finals
Prediction: Norway to reach the Semi-finals
Prediction: Denmark to be eliminated from the group stage
Prediction: Belgium to finish at the bottom of the group table
Group B Betting Tips and Odds
Germany should have no problems in finishing at the top of the group B table, as they have lifted the trophy at each of the last six tournaments. They will have a difficult game against Sweden, although they beat the Swedes 4-1 at last year’s World Cup. Italy have improved a little bit over the past few years, but they stand no chance against Germany and Sweden. Russia also looked good throughout the qualifying phase as their only two defeats came at the hands of Germany.
