Every day this week one of our football tipsters will be putting themselves on the line, giving you their predictions on how all six of this weekends games will go down. Today we have Will who will go through his six score predictions and the reason’s behind each one.
Bristol City v Barnsley
The first game sees Bristol City host Barnsley and with both teams coming into this one of the back of good pre-seasons, it’s tough to call. With Bristol City looking good at the back end of last season and carrying that on throughout the summer, I can see them nicking a win this weekend.
Wills prediction: Bristol City 1-0 Barnsley
Wolverhampton v Middlesbrough
For me, both of these teams could be up near the top come the end of the season. Middlesbrough haven’t lost any big names since relegation and Wolves have added a lot of quality during this transfer window. With both sides looking strong, I can see this being a close encounter.
Wills prediction: Wolverhampton 1-1 Middlesbrough
Sheffield United v Brentford
Sheffield United haven’t brought in that many new players through the transfer window and at this stage do look a little short after letting a lot of players go. It is a big club with big expectations but I can see them falling short on the opening day to a Brentford side who showed they are solid away from home last season.
Wills prediction: Sheffield United 0-1 Brentford
Ipswich v Birmingham
Both of these sides had a lot of draws last season, making me feel they will get of to the same kind of start this campaign. Ipswich do tend to start campaigns stronger to the way they finish, but Birmingham do look as if they could be a different side under Harry Redknapp this season.
Wills prediction: Ipswich 1-1 Birmingham
Fulham v Norwich
Both of these teams are not shy of any goals, making me feel this could be a high scoring first game of the season. Norwich started very strong last season, but hit a bad patch stopping them challenging for promotion, whereas Fulham are consistent throughout the season. A good start looks likely for both sides.
Wills prediction: Fulham 2-2 Norwich
QPR v Reading
QPR didn’t look that impressive last season and with the lack of movement in the transfer window makes me feel as if they will struggle again. Reading came so close to Premier League football, losing in the Championship play off final last season. I think they will come out wanting some more of the same this season, meaning a positive start is vital.
Wills prediction: QPR 0-2 Reading
