The Premier League is known for being one of the more competitive leagues in world football and is home to some of the biggest names. This past year has proven that, with five players making the shortlist to become this year's FIFA player of the year.

We will go through the five Premier League stars who have made the shortlist, along with the rest of the names around the world.

Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur

The England international had some year in the Premier League, leading his side to second in the league and claiming the golden boot for the second year running. He is arguably the Premier League's most clinical finisher and has the stats to back it up.

Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal

Although Arsenal didn’t have the best of seasons, whenever they did play well, it would have been because this man was. He managed to bag 24 goal in 38 games for the gunners in the Premier League, giving him the opportunity for this honour.

N’Golo Kante

Chelsea

For the past two seasons, N’Golo Kante has been a Premier League winner with both Leicester City and Chelsea. His break up play and ability to get the ball forward is second to none. He won the Premier League player of the season and defiantly deserves this opportunity.

Eden Hazard

Chelsea

Eden Hazard also won the Premier League this season with Chelsea and had a massive part to play in it. His pace, power and quality down the left hand side made games horrid for opposition, which led to a lot of wins for the blues.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Manchester United

Wherever this man seems to go, he always seems to become a fans favourite. That is because of his quality on and off the pitch. Without his last season, it would have been good to see where United finished, but luckily enough for them they had him, and for free.
