West Brom Bring in Bartley as Rebuild Begins
West Brom have started building for a tilt at the Championship this season, with the hope of promotion back into the Premier League. After relegation last season and a number of players leaving, the project at West Brom may take a year or two longer than some fans would like it to, but a good signing today have moved them in the right direction. They have announced the signing of Kyle Bartley from Swansea for an undisclosed fee.
Bartley never really made an impact at Swansea, and has got the move he wanted ahead of the new season, with West Brom beating off both Leeds and Birmingham who had also shown an interest. Bartley had spent time on loan at Leeds during the 2016/17 season, so West Brom must have impressed him during talks for him to go to a club he knows nothing about over one he has played with and enjoyed his time with before. With solid experience in the Championship, Bartley is deemed a very good player for the league, and will be a nice addition at West Brom.
As pre-season begins, the West Brom squad is beginning to take shape, although it is likely that many more moves will be made ahead of the season, both incomings and outgoings. There are still a number of unhappy players at the club trying to get moves, and for the good of the rest of the squad, West Brom would be best sorting these situations out before they kick a ball. They do have to show progress though, and signing someone like Bartley does exactly that, giving their fans hope that when the season begins on August 4th, they will be able to hit the ground running and compete.
West Brom 15/2 to Win Championship Title
Those who believe that signing Kyle Bartley is the first of many positive steps that West Brom are going to take this summer should note that they are available at 15/2 with the bookmakers to win the Championship title. They do have a number of good players still at the club, and the more that remain there and are happy to play for them, the better their chances of making the immediate jump back up into the Premier League.
Up first for West Brom on Saturday August 4th is a home game against Bolton Wonderers, a team who struggled in the Championship during the 2017/18 campaign. This is a game West Brom will be expected to win, and a perfect opportunity to give the fans something to cheer about. They are 10/21 to win this game and get off to the best possible start.
