Tottenham Face Uncertain Couple of Weeks
Fans of Tottenham may be slightly concerned about what could happen over the next couple of weeks both on and off the field. This has been a bizarre summer for Tottenham, on the positive side they have managed to keep hold of their star players (for now), but one negative has been the fact that they have not made a single new signing. The transfer window is now shut, so no one can come in but with European clubs still allowed to buy players we could see someone leave Tottenham over the next couple of weeks.
There is also the uncertainty over the new ground and their move into that has already been delayed. Games have been moved to Wembley in October, and there are no guarantees that the stadium will be ready at that stage, with the potential for further games to take place at the national stadium, instead of the new and eagerly anticipated stadium that is currently being built.
The stadium isn't the only thing on the minds of Tottenham fans right now. They are also concerned that some players could leave the club before this window ends, with Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld and Mousa Dembele all rumoured to have European clubs circulating over them. With the way English clubs have decided to structure their transfer window they are in a position where players can leave, but no replacements can be brought in. With Tottenham not signing anyone this summer there is no room for someone to leave, especially if it is one of the three players mentioned, all of which are going to see regular first team action this season.
The killer blow would of course be Alderweireld, who has been mentioned as a potential leaver all summer, with Manchester United showing an interest a few weeks ago. He is the best centre half at the club, and would command a huge fee should he move on, but Tottenham wouldn't be able to spend their return until January, leaving them with a difficult decision to make.
The decision to not sign anyone during the summer left some people scratching their heads, but should a big player like Alderweireld leave then it would show just how wrong that decision was, and would really weaken Tottenham's chances of finishing inside the top four this season.
Tottenham Face Fulham at Wembley this Weekend
After a victory away from home against Newcastle last weekend, Tottenham head to Wembley to take on Fulham this weekend looking to make it two wins out of two. They are strong favourites to win the game, and are priced up at 10/37 with the bookmakers. If you think the off-field discussions will distract Tottenham then Fulham can be backed at 9/1 to win the game, with the draw being 9/2. An important couple of weeks lies ahead for Spurs, they are certainly a club to follow with interest in August.
