The Top Four Battle with Eight Games to Go
Four is the magic number for teams in the Premier League trying to finish inside the top four. There are four of them involved, separated by four points, and as we close in towards the end of the season, this battle is going to be just as good to watch as the one at the top of the table between Manchester City and Liverpool. Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are the four teams in this battle, and they are currently sat in that order, with the first two mentioned holding onto a top four spot and the last two trying to do all they can to break inside.
Tottenham were involved in the title race at one point, and looked assured of a top four spot but they have struggled in recent weeks, and they are without a win in their last four games. Arsenal beat Manchester United in their last game to jump ahead of them, and take 4th spot going into the international break. That has put United down into 5th, two points behind Arsenal and out of the top four, while Chelsea are a further point back in 6th position and they are the outsiders to land a top four spot. The next few weeks are going to be fascinating to watch, and while you wouldn't be confident of ruling any of these out right now, both Arsenal and Manchester United are the form teams, and they have been playing the best football recently.
As far as the betting goes, it is Tottenham who are the shortest priced team to land a top four spot, no surprise given they are currently in third. They are 1/2 to finish inside the top four, while Arsenal are not too far behind them at 4/7 to do the same. Then comes Manchester United, the biggest threat to those inside, they are priced up at 11/10 to make it in, while Chelsea need to pass at least two of the other clubs to get in and they are 13/8 to do so.
