The Championship Relegation Race

The Championship currently looks a little like the Premier League at the bottom of the table, with two teams cut off from the rest and all but relegated already. Those teams are Ipswich and Bolton, and only a miracle is going to save them. Above those two, four teams look set to battle it out to avoid the final relegation place, and after the international break the teams will go back with just three points separating them.

Rotherham are the team in the relegation zone right now, so they have the most work to do. They have 36 points on the board, although they are just one point away from safety, so it will only take one game to jump out. Both Reading and Millwall are above them, level on 37 points but Millwall do have a game in hand on their opponents at the bottom due to their run in the FA Cup, which could prove to be crucial.

Rounding off the four teams down at the bottom are Wigan, who are up on 39 points and three above Rotherham. However, they are not out of it, and it won't take much for them to drop down into the relegation zone, they will certainly be looking over their shoulders right now. Those above look clear enough of the drop to get involved, leaving the four named teams to battle it out to avoid one spot.

Rotherham are priced up at 8/11 to be relegated this season, which is no surprise considering they are the team down in relegation zone right now. Above them in the league and in the betting is Reading, who are 15/8 to be relegated while Millwall are available at 7/1 and Wigan are 8/1 to go down. Just one game can change it all though, and no one can breathe easily just yet.
