Super Spurs Stun Dortmund at Wembley
Tottenham produced a fantastic second half display last night to beat Borussia Dortmund 3-0 at Wembley. After struggling to get their game together in the first half, Spurs looked a completely different outfit in the second half and fully deserved their margin of victory. Whatever boss Mauricio Pocchettino said to them at half time clearly worked, and thanks to that, Spurs have a big advantage to take with them to Germany for the second leg in three weeks.
It was a shock result really, with Tottenham missing both Harry Kane and Dele Alli from their squad, and Dortmund showing up so well both at home in the Bundesliga and in the Champions League. However, everything they tried to throw at Tottenham, the home side had an answer to it, and they found a way to nullify the threat during every single attack.
The second leg is still an important night for Tottenham, and one that are going to have to take seriously and perform well in. However, no even the most optimistic Spurs fan would have dreamed about taking a three goal lead to Germany with them, and Tottenham look set for a place in the quarter finals unless something bizarre happens when these two meet again.
The two teams meet again in Germany on March 5, and with home advantage it is no surprise to see Dortmund as the favourites to win the game in 90 minutes. The German club are 21/20 to win the second leg in 90 minutes, while Tottenham can be backed at 13/5. The bookmakers clearly think everything is already wrapped up in terms of qualifying, and they have Tottenham at 1/50 to qualify for the next round.
