It was a fantastic night for England last night, winning in Spain 3-2 to keep their hopes of reaching the Nations League final alive. However, for one player in particular it was a great personal night and that was Raheem Sterling. He received criticism throughout the World Cup, and has struggled to match his performances to England to those that he puts in for Manchester City, but perhaps last night was the best we have seen from him in an England shirt.

The biggest criticism of Sterling has been his struggles in front of goal, he often finds himself in great positions but struggles to put the ball in the back of the net. That wasn't the case last night, he scored the first and the third goal for his team, showing that on his day he can bring creativity and goal scoring to this highly talented England team. The past two games we have seen England move to a 4-3-3 formation, with both Sterling and Marcus Rashford playing wide of the main striker Harry Kane. With those three on the pitch, England are going to create a lot of opportunities, just like we saw them do last night.

While his struggles have been there for all to see with England, Sterling has not had much trouble putting up great performances for his club Manchester City. What he would love to do over the coming season is combine both, and should he be able to do that he would be one of the most exciting talents England have, and potentially one of the best attacking players in Europe.

City have a relatively easy return to action on Saturday when Burnley visit the Etihad Stadium. Raheem Sterling is expected to feature for his club, and they are priced up at 1/10 to win the game. The away side will be looking to cause a shock, although the bookmakers think that is unlikely and they have priced them up at 24/1 to take all three points, while the draw is priced up at 9/1.
