Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds in the Battle of Yorkshire
Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds take each other on in the first Yorkshire derby of the season tonight at Hillsborough. With Rotherham joining the Championship this summer, we have another team alongside Leeds and the two Sheffield clubs that will be battling it out for bragging rights in the league. We have seen some great battles between Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds in recent years and this game looks sure to be the same.
These two are two of the biggest clubs outside of the Premier League, and if you ask their fans then they would say that they deserve another chance in the Premier League, something they have both been working towards for the past few seasons. If you earnt your place in the Premier League based on history and your away following then these two would be guaranteed a place, that is for sure.
However, while both of them have played well and competed, neither have dominated the Championship in the way that a true champion does. Perhaps that is a sign of just how good the league is, and how difficult it is to get out of. Both fancy their chances this season, and Leeds currently top the Championship, although they are in danger of losing that as they have not been at their best in recent weeks. Wednesday started poorly but since then they have upped their game to drag themselves into contention.
As they are the current league leaders, Leeds have been priced up as the favourites to win this clash, with a price of 28/25 available on them. Sheffield Wednesday have improved in recent weeks and they have home advantage too, they are priced up at 11/5 to win the game, with the draw available at 243/100.
