Sheffield United sit at the top of the Championship table right now, with West Brom in close behind them. Action returns this weekend and the top two will be loooking to maintain their lead over the chasing pack. The big reason why these two teams have been able to get to the top of the league has been their ability to convert games from draws into wins. When you compare them to the other teams near the top they have done a far better job at picking up three points than the others that are around them, especially Leeds and Middlesbrough, who were the early pace setters.

United and West Brom have won four out of their last five games, picking up a draw in the other meaning they are unbeaten. Both Leeds and Middlesbrough have won just two of their last five, with two draws accompanying those wins and it is those missed opportunities that have knocked those two off the two top spots. Nottingham Forest, Sheffield Wednesday, Brentford and Derby are the others involved at the top right now, but all those teams have all picked up two or more draws in recent games, preventing them from turning into a big challenger.

When you are playing in a league as competitive as the Championship, and one that has many teams vying for promotion it is vital that you convert draws into wins. This is the difference maker when it comes to who will be promoted and who will miss out, and so far Sheffield United and West Brom are the teams who are making the early running. They have managed to get wins on the board when others have struggled and it is no surprise to see them top the table because of this. Another few weeks of them doing the same, and the fans will begin to dream about the possibility of promotion.

After seeing them impress so much in recent weeks it is no surprise to see that West Brom and Sheffield United are the two front runners for the Championship title according to the bookmakers. West Brom are favourites, they are priced up at 19/10 to win the Championship and the ex-Premier League club will be looking to kick on and show their strength over the coming games. Current leaders Sheffield United are the second favourites, and they can be backed at 9/2 to win the league.
