Ryan Babel Returns to the Premier League with Fulham
In their attempt to survive in the Premier League, Fulham have decided to add experience to their squad. They have done that in the form of Ryan Babel, who brings Premier League experience, international experience and also a vast number of games played all around Europe. The 32 year old has signed a deal that will keep him at Fulham until the end of the season, so this is clearly a short term measure, but by doing this we can see that Claudio Ranieri has identified that the club needs more experience.
Babel spent three and a half years at Liverpool so he is returning to a league that he will know very well. Of course he is playing in another team this time around, but his time at Liverpool will certainly help him settle and quickly get to grips with the league and that is exactly what Fulham need, as they need results quickly. Signing players that need time to settle at the club and in the league is not the kind of deals that Fulham need to be making right now, so from that perspective, Babel is exactly the kind of player they should be targeting.
Something that has bothered Fulham all season has been their ability to score goals. They have struggled to do that, and to win games you need to score. Babel will be able to help on two fronts, the first is scoring the goals and the second is creating them, so it is fair to say that Fulham will be expecting quite a lot from him. Whether he can deliver that remains to be seen, but it looks a good start for Ranieri as he looks to come up with a plan to keep Fulham safe.

Babel could well go straight into the squad for their first game since his arrival, which comes on Sunday against Tottenham. He may not start, but could be used in an attempt to provide a spark off the bench should they need him when Tottenham come to visit. The game won't be easy though, and Fulham are priced up as big as 9/2 to win the game with the bookmakers, while Tottenham are the 3/4 favourites after their recent good run.
